Freedom From Our Sins:
All scriptures are from the NKJV
Romans 8:1-11 --- Free from Indwelling Sin (this does not mean we have no sins in/of the flesh. It means we are set free from the condemnation of our sins)
1 There is therefore now (present tense) no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, ****who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
(It should be noted that in the above scripture the words after the **** are not in the original text. It is in verse 4)
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has (present tense) made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did (past tense) by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,
4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
(things of the flesh are those things that men think will save them. It is a fact that those that think they are saved by what they do will never know if they have done enough and they have no peace.)
6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
8 So then, those who are (present tense) in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
10 And if Christ is in you, the body is (present tense) dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Will = future tense
1 John 3:1-3 --- The Command to Love
1 Behold what manner of love the Father has (present tense) bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
2 Beloved, now (present tense) we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
Philippians 3:20-21
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 who will (future action) transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
2 Corinthians 5:16-21
16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.
(The children of God no longer know Christ as He was in the flesh)
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have (present tense) become new.
18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2 Corinthians 6:1-2 -- Marks of the Ministry
1 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
Those who go back to law are not receiving the grace of God.
2 For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now (present tense) is the accepted time; behold, now (present tense) is the day of salvation.
