Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. (1 Peter 4:1-2) Jun 11, 2012

Your verse post reminded me of a recent comment. Only single a single digit amount of polled Christians associated Christ with suffering. That's kinda the core of our faith - that He suffered for our sins.

Yes :) ! Our western idea is too often that Christ came and died so we could live happily ever after. It is true in a sense... But we can only have this life after we ourselves die. It's the key difference between coming as one who seeks to save his life or one who seeks to give it away. So if we die with him, we will also live with him, but people want the second part without the first!

There is a teaching in modern Christianity that says 'picture yourself on Daddy's knees' rather then telling us to get on ours. What I mean is that it teaches that we are 'already there', instead of seeing where we are and where we need to get, and beseeching the Lord to bring us. It teaches Laodicean that they are rich, and it is Laodicea (which means 'the peoples opinion')!

Hey Prentis my brother what does your doctrine say about those consistently quarrel over words ?

Jiggy... I get the meaning from the two Greek words that form it: laos, and dike. Laos is where we get 'laity', it means the people. Dike means 'judgment' or 'justice'. In other words, the people's own judgment. They judge themselves rich, as the text reveals. :)

Man is a blank sheet, capable of choosing to be just, or to be wicked. He cannot be perfect because of his sin nature, but he can be righteous. Now in Christ, a higher level of righteousness is available, as the old nature can truly be put to death, and he can walk by the new nature, Christ.

Yes, and it is by this training that we attain, and truly become like him. This is the 'running of the race'. So the attaining is indeed not the beginning but indeed important... Lest we fall short of the grace of God!

Salvation consists of three identifiable parts. 1. The free gift [believing and receiving] 2. The process of sanctification [our personal walk and the work of the cross being applied in our lives] 3. The end of our hope [full salvation]

Depth calls to go on to the fulness in Christ, both in Spirit and in character, that we would be like him, salt and light! :)

A domino is revealed to be real by the fact that when one falls, the next does also. In the same way, the disciple is revealed. If the master, the first domino, falls, and the next domino doesn't, we can conclude that this one is either not made of the same material (character) or that it is attached to the ground (holding on to one's life, saving one's own skin)!

Usually if the first domino falls and the second one doesn't it is because it wasn't close enough to the first on and has no reflection on whether the domino was genuine.

What is religious is any scheme that claims to reconcile us to God without actually changing our spiritual reality and truly making us one with him, not only in word, but in spirit and truth.

So much of our christianity is fixated on hope, what we will be in the next age, that it forgets the necessity of walking in faith today and becoming this today, which is necessary if we are to attain the hope set before us.

Protestantism arrived basically as an 'allergic' reaction to Catholicisms' selling of indulgences, selling salvation. In turn, it preaches a free salvation, which is equally false and contradictory to the gospel of Christ.

Brothers religion and denomination can't save us but those who follows the Will of the Father in heaven...Being in a religion and denomination means you are saved , the question is does your religion and denominations doing the will of the father? or it has it's own rules and regulation that they think it is the Will of the father... still it's the will of man the brought him to build denominations and religions.

Christianity is not about a delusion, that 'every day is a friday', but rather about a reality, 'that God is in control', and that he works all for our best! In this we put our hope, because with eyes of faith, we see that it is true!

I'm not against 'enjoying living', Comm. I'm against teaching that enjoying this life, and making our life better for US is the message of Christ :) Nothing wrong with enjoying a nice walk, or anything the like. My issue is with the doctrine.

Christ in us, the hope of glory

    Signature

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Cor. 3:18)
