Someone asked me if I could start a forum on gardening as we progress. I complete forgot.

This week, we just finished one of the beds. We have another to fill. The soil is a bit rough but we're working on it. The woman who helped us put together the soil owns a nursery so I'm thinking we need more top soil and mixed it wrong or something. Open to suggestions. I need to get the egg shells out of the bed and put them back in the compost. I just haven't yet. My son did that.

Also open to ideas about keeping the rabbits away, because when I went to take this picture, Peter Rabbit was already hanging out looking for treats.

I bought beds that were sent back to Amazon. So for two 8 x 4s, I only paid $30. The soil was a bit more. Now we are waiting for chives, napa cabbage, lettuce, kale, sage, basil and other things I can't remember.

We just transplanted some broccoli, squash, marigolds, and cantaloupe. Then seeded some peas and green beans.

The marigolds are unhappy. The squash needs nitrogen so I added coffee grounds yesterday, but we got the marigolds to keep out the rabbits and Peter Cottontail had come around and pulled one of them up.

So Friday we add nets and when it gets time, we will add a bee/butterfly bath.

The bath may attract mosquitoes. So then we'll have to draw the attention of dragonflies and maybe get a bat house so they can eat the mosquitoes.

I found out not to kill my dandelions all over the lawn. They have a job. They're aerating the soil and providing nutrients so other plants can grow well, and will die down on their own when they're done.

I've learned a lot and the more I learn, the more I appreciate God's design for life and how much of everything is interconnected and has a purpose in ways I never really recognized before.
