I recently began reading through the scriptures again starting with Genesis and I wasn't through 2 chapters when the Lord began teaching me something I hadn't seen before, though it isn't strictly anything new. I'm not presenting a complete study, but rather some rudimentary notes and selected verses upon which the Lord has been building. The topic is relative to the times and the Lord must be showing these things to others in the body as well, so I thought this might make a good topic for group discussion and study.
My recent readings startled me a little as this was the first time that I noticed a discrepency in the time line of creation with regard to the creation of man. I'd read in notes previously that some scholars say that Genesis contains two creation accounts that were merged together, but these same scholars deny the authorship of the book as from Moses. Since I accept both the authorship of Moses and the inerrant inspiration by God, I had to understand the discrepency and reconcile the text to sound doctrine in the revelation of Jesus Christ. My notes are as follows and I welcome your input to the study:
The creation of the 1st woman
23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:23-24
Man as the glory of God and Woman as the glory of man
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man is not from woman, but woman from man. 1 Corinthians 11:7-8
The man of flesh glorified:
39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds. 40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. 1 Corinthians 15:39-49

2nd Account of the creation of man
4 This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 5 before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; 6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Genesis 2:4-7
But this places the day of Adam’s creation on or before the 3rd day
11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 So the evening and the morning were the third day. Genesis 1:11-13
1st Conclusion:
Adam was created on or before the 3rd day, but Eve wasn’t created from Adam’s rib until the 6th day: God didn’t see man as completely created until the formation of Eve and it was with his bride that Adam and Eve are described as being made in the image of God.
1st new question:
Why did God create Adam prior to the 3rd day and Eve on the 6th day knowing that man was not complete until the formation of Eve? Was His purpose in the delay of Eve’s formation the perfection of Adam as a type of Christ and His Church?
Paul’s reference to the church as the wife of Christ:
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33
In Genesis chapter 1, man is created in the image of God on the 6th day and on the 7th He rested:
Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. Genesis 2:1-3
Paul’s description of the 1st resurrection and the glorification of the church:
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:51-53
The 1st Resurrection described as the beginning of the millennium
(the earth’s rest?):
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Revelation 20:4-5
Conclusion:
Jesus as the Son of God is perfect and complete, but as the Son of Man He is made complete in His return and with the glorification of His bride, the Church: “and they shall become one flesh”
