Hello, I just finished 1Samuel and I have 2 questions (the other is a separate thread.)Scripture to the following 1 Samuel 16:17-23 1 Samuel 19:9-10After Saul gets to know David (after Goliath), David becomes his harp player kinda often. Sauls official told him to get a harp player for times where a evil spirit came to Saul. One time while David was playing the harp it says God sent an evil spirit that came upon Saul, in his anger from the spirit, Saul throws a spear at David, trying to kill him. Why do you think God would change a mans actions with an evil spirit when Saul may have not acted this way by himself???

When Saul transgressed the commandment of Yahweh, that is, the words of Samuel (ISam15:24), the Spirit of Yahweh departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from Yahweh tormented him (1Sam16:14). Why? The words spoken by Samuel in the Spirit of Yahweh were Yahweh. All the prophets were speaking in the revelation of the Spirit of Christ (1Pe1:10-12), and what Christ speaks is the Word (Rom10:17).

Yes, I understand that Samuels words were from God, and because Saul disobeyed the Lord, He turned his face from him and would no longer speak with Saul.I wouldn't dare question the Lords judgement, I'm just trying to figure out why he sent this evil spirit to torment Saul, causing him to not act like himself.

We seem sometimes to forget when reading these stories they are meant to teach us by examples Good and evil can never abide together, and under no circumstances should we allow ourselves to be deceived by one that is filled with evil spirits, and a liar. Good and evil just can not walk hand in hand, for it is an impossibility. So never let your guard down even when love is involved, for when Satan has the upper hand in ones life, they simply can not be trusted. Know who your enemy is, for the enemy is Satan. The more you know of him, the less you will be deceived by him and his ways. It wasn't Saul that was attacking David, it was the evil spirit that possessed Saul, that was out to kill David and put an end to the plan of God. After all, remember that the Messiah would be born and come through the loins, and lineage of David, and Satan knew that.

I've personally been in situation, where I let the door open to devil to torment me by negativity and hopelessness, because I was not forgiving someone, -I became bitter. It became a stronghold for me.I didn't want to be like that, but I was so hurt that I was not able to forgive. It was my own fault. Thank God for His mercy that He did not give up on me and I was able to forgive and go on and to be set free from that bondage.

Thanks for sharing that Thunder1 I think that goes right to heart of this lesson good and evil can not reside together one will win over at some point. It isnt always instanous like in the above lesson of Saul, but the same principle exists.

To understand the Bible, you need to know, that the Old testament was wrote in Hebrew, and in the Hebrew language there is no causative, only the permisive will of God. disobebience will open the door the evil spirits. or people just will to be evil. In Exodus 7: 3, It says, that God says, "I will harden Pharaoh's heart" But this is what the truth is, "And pharaoh will harden his heart" To understand the Bible, you need to know, Who is doing the speaking, God, someone else, or the translater. For instance, at a funeral you will hear this statement, "The lord giveth and the Lord taketh away".God never said that, Job did.
