Psychologists know that anger turned inward is probably manifest as sadness which probably results in depression.
Abuse and stress, agitation, irritation, inability to swim or float above life's troubles of trying to maintain enough to survive. Those are stressor that can build up as anger and frustration, inward may appear as hopelessness or sadness and depression. Those can lead to anxiety.
Survival in today's world can be difficult especially with inflation and strict laws, rules and regulations that can be very controlling such that the vessel afloat has of real problem maintaining self balance, sway, rocking to maintain balance. The boat needs to have some room to rock back and forth.
Let's face it survival can be a life threatening condition invoking fight or flight involuntary thoughts and feelings. The body responds with adrenaline that can cause the heart to race and even palpatate causing what Psychologists refer to as anxiety.
God has a cure:
First do not turn your solution inward to self. Looking inward is one of Satan's ways of putting a person in a state where they may eventually achieve depression and anxiety. Then they become his hopeless victims. Which is what he wants.
The problem is outward with the behaviors of others and/or life's troubles, including survival conditions.
It is important to relieve stress thru physical action. A good exercise routine is essential. Also outdoor activities.
Let's remember Christians are NOT inward looking people anyways.
God gave us direction to serve him by attending worship and serving in church activities.
The most important thing is charity. And that is helping others and attending to their needs. Also proclaiming the gospel. And that will bring true peace, love and joy from the Lord God. He has gifts and heart warming fruits of the spirit waiting for us. And extra of his blessings as we serve him.
Counselors might try to have you solve your problems by looking inward. And that can be a problem as that is where the hurt may be found from stress, abuse, damage and and other anger (fight or flight fears included), etc.
Let's face it, unless your a lying, deceptive cruel abusive person, looking inward is only a self defeating distraction that hypnotizes/deceives a person away from the cure of getting out of self and inward focus.
We as Christians are not self absorbed nor do we focus on self by constantly looking inward.
We get out and help others, which is helping with the harvest of God. Then we will feel productive and good about ourselves. Our souls will begin to say to ourselves and from God, "I am a good person ".
Life's problems also require solutions to feel hope and to have faith that we will survive in life. There are a few steps:
1. Seek the Lord, Heavenly Father for guidance to find solutions to life's problems that arise.
2. Ponder a problem for a time and if a solution or solutions are found write them down as a list. Plan with written list so that we are organized and can remember. There may be much that is planned and can be difficult to remember everything.
3. If we need, seek advice from other Christians. They may have solutions similar or exact already available. Remember God let's them serve us as well. We as Christians are a serving society and we help each other. We give help and so we receive help as well.
If we are caught in abuse situations it may be necessary to find a way out. An abuser may pick a person apart and attack the character of a victim. Pecking at their faults like a Raven at a baby blue bird. As the abuser points at the victims faults, the victim may begin to focus on what has been forced into them as faults. They may begin to believe the abuser's accusations. Satan is the accuser of our brethren, cast down from heaven for a reason. And whether true or false, looking inward is not helpful.
As we serve God, he blesses us with his healing holy spirit and he is the good counselor and physician. He will heal us as we serve and find solutions to life's problems. We need to be honest with him, others and ourselves. And we can ask of him for that as well. Ask and you shall receive says the Lord.
May God bless everyone!
