My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the GREATER CONDEMNATION. " James 3:1A fundamental truth at no matter what time period one is living in, is that teachers who remain unsaved, which are most Bible teachers, who teach the Word of God will receive the GREATER condemnation. The word "masters" is Strong 1320The word "greater" is Strong 3187The word "condemnation" is Strong 2917The Greek word for "master" which is Strong 1320 is translated 40x as "master" in referring to Christ Himself, 10x as "teacher," 7x as master, 1 x as doctor. The word "greater" is Strong 3187 This is translated 34 x as "greater," 9x as "greatest" 1x as elder, 1x as "more."The word "condemnation" is Strong 2917It is translated a total of 28x in the Bible13x as "judgment," 7x as "damnation," 5x as "condemnation, " 1x as "be condemned."So, the "warning" to all is be not many teachers, for teachers who are not elect and remain unsaved will receive the greater, the GREATEST damnation. The GREATEST condemnation, the GREATEST judgment."Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD." Jeremiah 23:1We can see why God warns those who try to lead. Because if they are preaching falsehoods, they are also attempting to lead others astray. The larger the outreach, say by radio or TV, the larger the potential to teach lies. For those gospels that are false, and those who are trying to teach them, these teachers will receive the GREATEST DAMNATION.So, lets assume an apostate teacher who lived and died 500 years ago, will he come under THE GREATEST DAMNATION? Of course. This idea that James 3:1 only applies to those teachers who are just alive during the final 5 months is completely ludicrous. In addition, for those unsaved teachers who have died, the idea that they will have no conscious understanding nor memory of what this greater damnation is, as it is just dissolved bones coming under a greater damnation, is also just as ludicrous. God will hold unsaved teachers who have been preaching lies to others accountable. They will give account for their crimes and then receive THE GREATEST DAMNATION.There is a reason why God uses the word GREATER or GREATEST in verses like these. It is to indicate the levels of punishment in eternal torment.Unsaved teachers receive the GREATEST DAMNATION... .the greatest punishment in eternal torment and will be beaten with many stripes.Thomas Golda
