Just moved and haven't found a church but I think I will like this more. I have also felt the need to conform to whatever church I was at and this feels more like I could be myself and get to know other people freely without them putting on a front. Even though they wernt, you never know. Like my favorite comedian said "your not meeting him/her, your meeting their representitive." Which I am guilty of myself sometimes. Goes with the "always put your best foot forward".

I am excited and want to learn from this site. I am studying religion atm for a book I am writing you can only get so much information from websites. I am not so good with scripture, and I know thats why we go to church is for them to explain it better but sometimes I wish i had full control over what we would be learning about that day.

Welcome!

Just a couple of observations, this site is no substitute for a regular home church, where the people you interact with aren't pixels on a computer screen. I encourage you to find a church because there's nothing like having to put up a church full of hypocrites and otherwise imperfect people to give God the opportunity to refine you like gold.

And in my experience, if you really want to know the Bible well, then you should study on your own and in small groups in addition to going to church. Reading the Bible only in church was never enough for me.

We're a diverse group here. I hope you have lots of fun.

Hi and welcome.

If you are studying religion, I don't think you can understand Christianity without understanding blood atonement so I think that would be a good place to start. I've been keeping my writings for over 13 years now. It is important for you to use and have a thumb drive for that purpose.

Great advice thanks to the both of you. 13 years, impressive. I think that is a great way to start. I am finishing my first book soon but I finished my first script 4 years ago and have been keeping notes on everything important since then. Even stand up, which I might never do anything with but it gets it out of my mind.

I find it hard to study the bible. I have read it, more than once, and find myself picking up things I missed each time. First time I read it so I could understand why everyone was bothering me to read it lol (a bad reason but a reason none the less.) Whenever I try to talk to someone about it they hold back their own idea's about what each passage means, thinking it might offend or they just might be shy. While the others are way to quick to tell me their idea's and are upset if I do not accept them. And seeing how I have zero friends and am a bit shy, it might be hard for me to find a group like that.

MrKruback, studying the Bible is actually a lot of fun...especially when you develop a hunger for God's Word. If you can find a group enthusiastically studies the Bible once a week, it will be very enriching for you to join it. Group dynamics tend to even out personality traits and hearing several different perspectives helps you to start developing your own. Soon you find yourself studying it for yourself, excited at how it transforms your mind. When you have troubles in life, the right Bible verse will readily come to mind, giving you peace. I can promise you this, if you pour yourself into this, the rewards will exceed anything you can imagine. I encourage you to jump in!

Everyone studies the Bible on different levels.

There are free mp3's on the internet where you can learn the Bible verse by verse.
Or there are free radio programs on the radio where you can hear someone teach the Bible verse by verse.
I chip away at what I'm studying sometimes. I use dictionaries.
