Mar 11:27 And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,

Mar 12:1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.
Jesus is speaking to the priests, scribes and the elders, all of them are Jews.
The vineyard is the promise land that he placed his chosen people, Jews.

Mar 12:2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
God would send a prophet to determine the righteousness of his people.

Mar 12:3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.
Many times they were so evil that they would beat the prophet.

Mar 12:4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
Other times they would throw stones and beat the prophet severely and then run him off.

Mar 12:5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
These events happened over and over.

Mar 12:6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
This time God sent his son, Jesus, as their Messiah with the hope they would accept him.

Mar 12:7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
Because they were so self righteous and spiritually blind, they could not accept this Jesus.

Mar 12:8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
They took Jesus to the Roman rulers and had him killed.

Mar 12:9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
What was God to do? He would come in judgement and destroy the wicked Jews, their way of life and give the kingdom to another.

Mar 12:10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
They had read the scripture where the Messiah was rejected and would become the foundational corner stone of the new covenant.
Psa 118:22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

Mar 12:11 This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

Mar 12:12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
The Jews were knowlegeable of the word of God, and they knew exactly what he was saying. It would be them that Jesus would return in judgement.

The bible never speaks of a judgement coming upon the church. In fact Jesus told his disciples that when they see the army surround Jerusalem, they should flee.
Jesus responding to the disciples question: “When shall these things be?” Luk 21:7
Luk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the
desolation is nigh.
21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
Luk 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Jesus says "All things written will be fulfilled" the all things written is what we call the ‘Old Testament’ and it speaks of this event.
The judgement of God came upon that generation in 70 AD, when Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed.

The word of God is true.

1. To whom is Jesus speaking in the following verses? Answer: Verse 45, chief priests and Pharisees, or to say in another way, the religious Jews. All of the following pertain to them.

Mat 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
We know that Jesus told Peter that upon this rock, he would build the church. That rock was the revelation of who Jesus was.
Mat 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
The kingdom of God will be taken away from the Jews and given to another.
Mat 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
Whoever will accept this knowledge will cry for mercy, but others will be destroyed.
Mat 21:45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
The Jews knew Jesus was speaking about them being destroyed.
Mat 21:46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

Jesus continues:
Mat 22:1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
Mat 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
Mat 22:3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
Mat 22:4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
Mat 22:5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
Jesus is the king that came unto his own, and his own received him not. Joh 1:11
The wedding was to bring in the new covenant.

Mat 22:6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
A few of the Jews would slew those that followed Jesus.
Mat 22:7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
Jesus was very angry or wrathful and would send the armies that he called to totally destroy their city.
Josephes, a Jewish historian, writes about how the Roman army did indeed totally destroy the city. This was after the Jews in Jerusalem had fought among themselves for 6 months prior, and burnt much of it before the Romans came. This was all fulfilled in 70 AD with the destruction of the temple.
Mat 22:8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
The wedding was now ready, and the destruction of the city would come just before the vows would be taken. God would not bring in the new until the old had been put away. Even the disciples continued to go to the temple prior to the destruction. Act 21:26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
Mat 22:9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
Mat 22:10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
This would be the disciples that would preach Jesus to the Jews and Gentiles alike. It would be recorded in the Epistles of the New Testament (Covenant).
