Have you ever seen a possum(opossum) ----probably not, I have ---well I just saw almost the same thing in my little dog's face just now - it looked at a little bone it hid in my comforter as if ---- it was life itself and someone had it in their hands ----the sweetness of his forehead with his ears back ---so humble and waiting...almost scared, but so humble wanting that thing that all it's focus was on ----was astounding.

I loved it so much - the innocence --and - you know what's coming ... I saw our souls and how they look to God.

I love dogs. I have a yellow Labrador and he is the best dog I have ever had! Ever since I became a Christian I have always noticed that a dog in many ways reflects Christ and how we should act.

First and foremost, most dogs...especially Labradors, have extreme compassion. Whenever I come home he is always right at the door just jumping out of his skin with joy that I am home and petting him. Not once have I come home and not been greeted by him.

My dog in particular is not only intelligent but he listens to everything I tell him and rarely gets into trouble by doing things he knows is wrong. He recognized that I am his loving master and that he must rely upon me for everything.

But the beautiful thing about it is when you realize that this dog that loves me so much everyday and listens to me when I give him a command or tell him to go lay down....he is demonstrating how I should behave towards God. Just like a dog, I should have extreme compassion towards God and love everyone the same like a dog would. Also just as a dog would I must humble myself before God so he can give me what I need. A dog will whine or nudge you when he gets hungry or has to go outside. We should be doing the same thing. Anything we attempt to do we should rely on God to give us whatever it is we need in life.

I just think that a dog is a great example of how to love and be obedient towards God and others. God put dogs on Earth for a reason and the love and joy I get and give between me and my dog is something I am extremely grateful for.

Well, Jimmy, you helped me not feel a bit silly ---not to have had my feelings but to have been so enthusiastic about posting them here.

I also learn so much about my relationship with the Lord by being with my dogs.

1. How can I refuse them? I can't. When they nudge me I instantly give them my attention ---just like the Lord gives me His attention when I look to Him.

2. When I want to kiss and hug them - they roll on their back to soak up the love. Just as I do and want to more - to accept His Love and open to it more in a very real and personal way.

3. How they are in the here and now so much -they have forgotten that they were bad (getting into the trash) They just want to be happy and loved.

When I saw the look on my dog's face -you could see the longing for that bone --"Oh no, what are you going to do with my bone? No, don't take it away!! I'll do anything!" Every ounce of what that dog was was placed on that desire for that bone ---as if it's whole life depended on it ---it's focus was amazing!!!
And the love and appreciation I felt for this teeny soul was profound.
And I didn't even create that dog - how much does God love me!?

He's getting his little bone when he wakes up ---off the bed.

That is exactly right! Hahaha. ;)
