Hey everyone. I was never baptized in my life. I just dont like the idea because I am unconfertable around groups of people. I Pray to the Lord and repent all the time, I asked the Lord to Come into my Heart. I accepted the Lord in my heart as Lord and savior. To cut to the chase, Do I need to be baptized to be saved?

According to Scripture, definitely. Just about every example of salvation in the history of the early church contained in Acts mentions baptism. Not only that, but there are clear statements that baptism is for the remission of sins.

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

There are examples in Scripture of Peter and the other disciples doing it, Phillip, and Paul as well. There are also examples of the exact same message being passed on to the Jews, the Samaritans, and the Gentiles.

Don't be nervous. A Baptism is a joyouse and solemn occaision. I can't remember my own baptism because I was only an infant but I have been confirmed and I know it can be a bit nere racking but I think you need to make that public proffession of aith as an adult.

Luke 12:8
Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

It certainly is not a requirement for receiving the Holy Spirit,

(Act 10:44) While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

(Act 10:45) And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Act 10:46) For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

(Act 10:47) Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

(Act 10:48) And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Baptism is the first act of obedience to your new master, Jesus. Is it necessary for salvation? No. Is it commanded we perform it? Yes. Is one condemned for not obeying? No, but it does cast a shadow over the rest of your walk.

The only thing that cast " doubt" on your walk is " doubt".

To cut to the chase, Do I need to be baptized to be saved?

no...baptism is not a salvation issue. Salvation is a free gift given to you when you first believed and received Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Baptism is a shadow of what Jesus did for us on the cross. Baptism represents Christ's death and resurrection, his position on the right hand of the Father and the sending forth of the promised Holy Spirit to dwell in believers unto eternity. 1 Peter 3:21.

Acts 19:2-6
2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”
They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
3 So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?”
“John’s baptism,” they replied.
4 Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Baptisms are partaken and celebrated in churches on a regular basis. Although Christ has come, these observances are still highly regarded in many churches...and will continue until Christ comes again. It is a conscience issue and an outward acknowledgment of our commitment and desire to serve God. It is also a good witness to our family and friends that we have chosen to follow Jesus. ^_^

Bless you!!!

TRUE/GENUINE baptism is not performed by anyone on earth, it is done by the Holy Spirit without our knowledge. The Holy Spirit uses "LIVING water" to baptize/consecrate the "inner temple" (the individual believer) to the outer temple (Jesus)........(there is no H2O water involved EVER).

In John 2:19, Jesus HIMSELF became the new worship temple (HIMSELF...the body that hung on the cross is the ONLY worship temple/"church").

No building/structure is a worship place (regardless of what anybody will ever say).

WE (the individual believer) are the INNER temple.....

1 Corinthians 3:16 and also 6:19

"Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?".

The things that are in scripture were said 2,000 years ago to OTHER PEOPLE and should not determine YOUR relationship/devotion today.

Both Jesus and John the Baptist called the Pharisees a "Brood of Vipers" because they misled "the people". Jesus also said that the scribes and the Pharisees were CHILDREN OF HELL (do not imitate the "children of hell" or their habits of "fasting", etc.).

Matthew 23:15
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you traverse sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves".

The woman who washed Jesus's feet used her tears of sorrow/love ("LIVING water"). They came from a "heart of flesh" that can feel SENTIMENT (the "sentiment" of love/sorrow).

The true/genuine believer will have RIVERS of living water flowing from their "heart of flesh".....

John 7:38
"He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, 'Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.'".........God's Spirit agrees with that "living water".

1 John 5:8
"There are three witnesses, the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree.

There are many deep truths about God and devotion to Him that have not been taught for centuries (can you handle the truth?).

God doesn't want us to have to NEED to "be commanded" in order for goodness to come from us. He doesn't want to be OUR master (unlike the OTHER BELIEVERS 2,000 years ago before the crucifixion happened (we are NOT JEWS, Galatians 3:28 and 1 Corin. 9:2). God wants to be "Abba FATHER" to us (and we shall be "SONS of the most high"/sons of God)................can you handle the truth?.

Titus 1:8 "a lover of goodness, master of himself".

"and in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians" (Acts 11:26,.....around 50 A.D.).

Seventeen years after the crucifixion, the Jews that accepted Jesus as the promised Messiah no longer wanted to be members of "THE WAY" (the chief Pharisee persecuted those who worshipped Jesus, so they decided to be called "Christians".

Acts 9:2
"so that if he found any BELONGING TO "the Way" (only a "MEMBER OF" can "belong to", what does Jesus's body consist of?......MEMBERS).

Do not burden yourself with the partisan beliefs and requirements/obligations that have been taught, live the LAW OF LIBERTY (the PERFECT law, James 1:25 and 2:12).

Let the Holy Spirit take care of the "baptizing"/consecration.

Do not worry if you know/understrand everything correctly, God looks at the heart. Just do your best and be a sincere "living breathing soul".

Neither the word "Christianity" nor the word "bible" are in scripture ("Scripture" is SCRIPTURE, not "bible", 2 Timothy 3:16). The word "CHRISTIAN"/singular is used twice and the plural "Christians" is only used that once in Acts, but neither "christianity" nor "bible" are divinely inspired words.

Let God do the "spirituality" (He will do it in a DIVINE manner).

Ephesians 4:5 "one lord, one faith, ONE baptism".

You need to be baptized in the Spirit. A thus baptized person is fearless and filled with all confidence in God. So perhaps this baptism should precede the water baptism in your case....so that you can boldly testify to your new life in Christ.

TRUE/GENUINE baptism is not performed by anyone on earth, it is done by the Holy Spirit without our knowledge.

What is this? Proxy baptism? This is a Mormon doctrine. The actual baptism in the Spirit is very much according to our own experience. We experience power from heaven which the bible calls grace.

Hello Episkopos,

I am not a Mormon nor have I ever heard of this "PROXY" situation, teaching, theory, or whatever you want to call that belief.

I know you want me to CONVINCE you of the TRUTH ("depths of God", 1 Corin. 2:10), but I don't do that BECAUSE the whole idea of being reconnected with the creator PROPERLY ("in TRUTH and SPIRIT") is that you must WANT "truth" because you LOVE it (not "LIKE" it) so that you can have a BETTER, DEEPER, and more solid relationship with God.

But it seems that all YOU want is "intellectual superiority", so you search scripture with commentaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias and the teachings of MAN instead of thinking for yourself. You separate everything into "doctrines" (the only "doctrine" we are to be concerned with and desire is the "doctrine of Christ". Anyone who does not abide in that doctrine......

..........."does not have God" (2 John 1:9).......did your teachers teach you THAT?.

How about "purification" (Hebrews 1:3) of the flesh and purification of the conscience (salvation requires both, Hebrews 9:14)?......did your teachers teach you THAT?.

"they refused to LOVE the truth AND SO BE SAVED" (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

Did you think claiming Jesus as savior is all that is needed for salvation?. Do you actually believe that getting wet is a DIVINE and TRULY SPIRITUAL thing to do?.

There are MANY things that your "teachers" never taught ANYBODY for centuries....BECAUSE they only WANT MONEY (even the most sincere pastors/ministers are VERY aware that they must PAY BILLS).

You research what the Morons believe and what other people believe (and this group and that group, etc.) so you can be a prideful intellectual instead of search for the TRUTH.....Okay, it is your choice.

....the maiden decided to.....

"search for whom my SOUL loves" (Song of Songs 3:2).....our relationship should be like this example that God provided for us to learn from (IF we do WANT TO LEARN).

We can (God is not going to FORCE us to LOVE HIM) "learn" about God's "depths" and real truth if we really WANT TO love Him properly instead of CONFORM TO MAMMON (man's ways).

Why do you think God had Pilate say "What is TRUTH? (John 18:38)",....so those who WANT to learn more about whom their SOUL loves can learn a very important lesson and BE SAVED.

Neither the words "christianity" nor "bible" are in scripture (did your teachers point that out to you?, maybe all they care about is your money?).

Allow yourself to think for yourself and read scripture for yourself.

God does NOT want to be our "master" (He wants to be "Abba Father" to each of us so we can be a SON to Him). He doesn't want us to need COMMANDS in order for goodness to happen......

"lover of goodness, master of himself" (Titus 1:8)......did your teachers teach you THAT?.

There are many things about the truth of God that have not been taught for centuries.

Forget about conforming to man and his ways, let GOD be your ONLY spiritual teacher (God's teachings are in "the anointing" 'God seed').

If you have a need to BE CONVINCED (in order to receive "intellectual gain", then you won't be able to find "whom your SOUL LOVES".
