Of course Greenland has great military security significance. Denmark and Greenlanders have no issue with the US building more monitoring and military tech there. The issue with US control is more of being able to mine resources. Greenland has shut down the rare earth mine in the south as they were worried uranium would be released into the sea poisoning the ocean. So no more rare earth mining allowed.

They have also banned sea oil drilling. Those are the 2 things, not the military buildup of Greenland which holds US administration concerns.
The things that make Greenland of economic importance to Greenland, Greenlanders have shut down. They know the US when it controls the islands, will reverse those bans. I think they would rather die in poverty and decline than let Greenland's economic resources be developed.

Europe is in decline. Europe has no ability to deal with Russia or China militarily. Why should the US follow or listen to them, but that is what they want. UK has also shut down oil production.
