If I pray for myself that is OK. As Nancy points out later in this thread we are told to ask him for all things we need. I will pray then. Cheers!

Should we ask for the prayers of others? God likes to glorify himself as he has all power to heal us. We should make it known when he heals us then that we might all see his glory.

In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed for Himself, that "this cup might pass from me". So, if Jesus did it, it must be okay to pray for ourselves.

If God is going to do what He wants to do anyway, do my prayers and petitions matter? I don't know. Maybe they do to God. Or maybe what we pray for isn't the point; the point is just to have that communication channel. Any relationship needs communication to sustain it.

When we pray for others, not only is God glorified, but this is one way we can encourage each other. "Bear one another's burdens", it says.

Yes God wants us to talk to him, he already knows what he is going to do for us. He is a loving God and loving people want us to talk to them.

But still God will glorify himself thru our prayers for each other.

If I pray for myself I failed him. He will care for me if he wants. I should pray for others and have faith that he will heal me if he desires. And if not then I should accept it like Christ on the cross. It wasn't God's will that Christ wouldn't be crucified, but it was his will that he would be resurrected. We will all be resurrected. But perhaps we will die first. Let God's will be done.

Do I need your prayers then if I have faith in God and his love for me? Probably not. But I know God likes to glorify himself. And prayers can accomplish that partly. If I let you know the outcome of your prayers.
