To have integrity questioned would mean others might have seen how you reacted to something, or did something that was not honest. One who is trustworthy, one who tells the truth, one who can be relied on has good integrity and would be trusted over one who has bad report on another...someone else could probably put this better.
And yes, we are commanded to follow all that Jesus "commanded" us to. If we do these things then you will never break the 10 written on stone.

If we did, we would be much more like Jesus. We should all want good character, as we do represent Christ.
"Need it"? Not for salvation of course, Jesus took care of that
but for the fruits of the Spirit to come out of us, yes, we sure do.
