Maybe you should seek some new Chemistry classes....

The reactors on nuke subs and Aircraft carriers are shut down not for refueling but to remove the plutonium that develops. (Makes the reaction too hot and uncontrolled)
Where yes, it's often referred to as U-239....it's plutonium.
One of the side effects of large molecules and atoms flying apart.
My Chem classes were taught by a lab assistant (had a PhD) from Y-12 during the creation of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. (Missing a leg from cancer due to an unknown exposure to radiation....things were different then and have evolved over the decades)
It's just algebra and a bunch of "names/titles".
Call it what you want....but you just don't want to be around when it begins it uncontrolled reaction.
