Iran Sobered Us Up on New Year’sA message of nuclear proportions.By Joel C. RosenbergThe new year may not be so happy if Iranian leaders have their way. The Islamic messiah known as the “Twelfth Imam” or the “mahdi” may come to earth in 2007 and could be revealed to the world as early as the spring equinox, reports an official Iranian government news website. The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) website says the world is now in its “last days.” It claims that the mahdi will first appear in Mecca, and then Medina. He will conquer all of Arabia, Syria, Iraq, destroy Israel, and then set up a “global government” based in Iraq, interestingly enough, not Iran. So, let me get this straight, we, followers of Christ, do not know the time or the place of the second coming of Christ, but Muslims know when the Twelfth Imam is coming and the details of his magical mystery tour. Sounds like what the Jehovah's Witnesses said about the "people who witnessed the events of 1914" who would be witness to the end times. FYI, they stoped saying that after it was impossible for this to take place.See you in Times Square Jan 2008....
