Islamic countries last to abolish slavery

The last Muslim country to abolish slavery is Mauritania in 1981!

This young Afghani girl is basically a slave. Because her mother owed money, she was sold to marry. She collected scrap metal and papers even on her wedding day.

There're different kinds of slavery.

Chattel slavery - the type of slavery that most people mean when they say 'slavery' - has been mostly abolished on earth.

The type of slavery the Bible refers to is not chattel slavery. It's debt-slavery or indentured servitude.

Today, many would argue that most of humanity are wage-slaves. I'm not sure I agree with that idea, but it IS a thought worth considering.
