How can we expect to avoid harm without effective relational training for our household?
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
to give you a future and a hope."
Jeremiah 29:11 - Berean Standard Bible
An example of relational training:
1. Be reliable
by
setting realistic deadlines
and keeping your promises.
Avoid overcommitting
Be proactive in communicating any potential delays.
2. Communicate effectively
by
using clear and concise language,
active listening,
and asking for clarification when needed.
Avoid making assumptions
Be open to feedback.
3. Be respectful
by
treating others the way you want to be treated.
Avoid making derogatory comments, interrupting others, or dismissing their ideas.
4. Collaborate
by
being open to different perspectives,
and sharing credit for successes.
Avoid being defensive or dismissive of others' ideas.
5. Be positive
by
focusing on solutions rather than problems,
offering encouragement and support,
and celebrating successes.
Avoid complaining or dwelling on negative aspects.
6. Develop your skills
by
seeking out learning opportunities,
practicing new skills,
and sharing what you learn with others.
Avoid becoming complacent or resistant to change.
And potentially:
7. Be inclusive
Build bridges when that’s important to do.
8. Be friendly
We need to go past our wounds to persevere. Mind not adding to the person’s wounds.
9. At home, love makes the day nicer.
In matter of helping to be inclusive, access to documentaries and life testimonies related to the perspective we are being challenged to be inclusive of, might be of help.
