June 12 (UPI) -- Israel Defense Forces launched aerial attacks against dozens of nuclear sites in Iran to prevent the nation from developing nuclear warheads during the early morning hours on Friday.

Warning sirens sounded across Israel in anticipation of Iranian retaliation as the IDF attacks continued, The Jerusalem Post reported.

The Israeli Air Force will continue the strikes against Iranian nuclear and long-range missile targets for several days.

"At the end of the operation, the will be no nuclear threat" from Iran, IDF officials told media.

The US will "defend Israel if they are attacked," US President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday morning after Israel conducted airstrikes on Iran as part of Operation "Rising Lion."

US President Donald Trump said that Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb and that the United States was hoping to get back to the negotiating table, in an interview with a Fox News following the start of Israeli airstrikes on Iran.


"Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb and we are hoping to get back to the negotiating table. We will see. There are several people in leadership that will not be coming back," Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin quoted Trump as saying in a post on X.

"Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region," Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement.

"President Trump and the administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target US interests or personnel."

"Israel is doing a favor to America right now by taking out Iran's nuclear capacity," US Senator Ted Cruz told Fox News.

"We don't know how this is going to end, but a nuclear Iran would be a profound threat to Israel and a profound threat to America," Cruz added.

As Israel targeted Iran's nuclear sites overnight on Thursday, a Middle Eastern politics expert warned that the United States is running out of time to prevent Iran from enriching enough uranium to build a nuclear weapon. Gregg Roman, executive director of the Middle East Forum, stated that with Iran speeding up its nuclear program and Ayatollah Khamenei's outright rejection of US proposals, the window for Washington to act without military force is quickly closing.


Before the raids, Mr. Roman told Express.co.uk: "This moment offers the last opportunity before Iran rebuilds proxy capabilities or achieves nuclear weapons. The United States retains leverage to deter Iran's nuclear ambitions without military action."

He emphasized that Washington's toolkit extends beyond sanctions to what he refers to as the "human terrain element" - in other words, empowering Iranian civil society through technology and targeted support. It comes as a haunting map predicted the US regions where 75% of people will die in a nuclear World War 3.

They do not have the 30k lb. GBU- 57 A/B MOP bunker busters that we have. They would also need a B-2 bomber to deliver it. We should have given them those and trained pilots to fly the B-2 bomber. These bombs can penetrate down 260 feet through concrete. The IDF do have 4-5k lb. bunker busters that may do the job? I guess striking in the exact location multiple times, one after anothwr may accomplish the job. ?
The IDF are smart and strategic with their precision attacks. Hope it's is enough to dismantle them perminently. Of course if Iran got off a few nukes, the Israeli Iron Dome may take care of them. ??? Ballistic missiles traveling at 15k mph are something else. Yeah, I have read that about those huge bombs. Israel wanted them from the US, but in the past, the US has not allowed Israel to have those.
