Seems quite obvious to me EG, that taking that which is, clearly meant to cause those that are not, or have been "born from above" to "ponder, meditate, selah" Christ's words!

No what I want is very simple...I'm asking one of you to show me that your understs ring of scripture is the authoritative one. Why should I listen to you if you can't show that your understanding is the authoritative one? Because you say so isnt good enough. Why are you people so stubborn?

I'm not asking you to listen to me. I don't claim an authoritative understanding of Scripture. I've told you this 1000 times the early church fathers some of whom were disciples of John taught that Jesus was speaking literally. They defended the early church from heresies that sound a lot like what you're pitching here.

I know the sad story. I was raised RC, but never got 'born again' until I was 22. But I'll guarantee you that if I'd died in Viet Nam, I would have been pronounced "going to heaven" just because I got sprinkled as an unbelieving infant.

Who called them "CHRISTIAN" is not mentioned. But you're going to tell us all it was the RC CHURCH right?
No I didn't. You think I did and I've told you already you're entitled to your opinion. Now whether you like it or not for 1500 years the Christian church taught Jesus was speaking literally. That teaching was by the church fathers some who were disciples of John. I have to make a choice whether to listen to them or to you. You're a disciple of Luther not John the apostle. If I have to explain to you why I chose to listen to John and the church fathers over you and Luther then there is not helping you. Im happy to consider your words if you can show they are superior to the teachings of John and the church fathers. Telling me I'm attacking you won't cut it

I will listen to John my friend. why would I go to anyone else. I have john's words in my hand, I can ready everythign he says.
You want to follow men, feel free. i will follow Gods inspired word.
and again, the fact you refuse to answer my question or even post to me the response from any of your elders or priests just gives me absolutely no desire to see it your way.

Lol because John taught Ignatius who then went into defend the Christian church against the heresies you're spewing here.

It's ridiculous to listen to a rando on the Internet when Ignatius, a disciple of John himself taught that Jesus was speaking literally and the church that Ignatius taught that for 1500 years. Its mind boggling that you refuse to see the problem. But I get it. You should run.
