What makes our gospel so different from Old Testament law preaching. Old Testament had at it's center those that pleased God by what they did. That is known as soul salvation. In the New Testament salvation is in spirit. There was no spirit salvation in the Old Testament. Their relationship with God was all based on soul. There was never any spirit salvation in the Old Testament because to have spirit salvation you had to kill out the old man (cross/spirit) and then you recieved a new "joined unto spirit."
"He that is joined to the Lord is one spirit"
The Old Testament saints had to do what the law said to do in order to have a relationship with God. There was no born again believers, no cross, never a death, never a resurrection, or seating at the right hand of the Father. To understand the New Testament you will have to have the New Testament gospel to go along with the New Testament born again.
So what does the gospel do? The gospel is the information you need now. You have to have the knowledge of what is going on in the earth with all humanity, believers included and how they will live and operate. It tells you how to live, what is meant by that?
It tells you that another is in you now and that life is the life you live by. You have two expressions if you will, coming out of one body and soul.
Christ in you (your creation/soul) being expressed as you. It is his life Paul said, Galatians 2:20, coming out of you as you are (your creation). That is the best news anyone can hear because they can learn life and go on and live by the life of another or express life (Christ in you). You spend less time at the doctor, less time at the psychiatrist, less time trying to pin point some odd doctrine, and you can go on and live as the scriptures portray "the peace that passes all understanding."
Why is that? Because Christ is all the things we look for in Christianity! He is peace, he is joy, he is self control, he is love, he is life, he is health and provision. He is all of these things and more "in the believer."
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. - 1 Corinthians 6:17.
