There are celebrities today who change for the worse after attaining wealth and fame.

Money and status goes to their heads and they begin to believe rules and morality no longer apply to them.

This negative trend could apply to King David. He was a fearless warrior who slew giants. A fierce protector who defended his flock of sheep from predators and actual lions. (Quite an impressive feat: fighting off lions in a time before guns had been invented.)

Yet David's weaknesses were revealed in him being seduced by temptations of wealth and fame. Which led to indiscretions. Of which he later repented.

Is it fair to say David's example was meant to serve as a warning and learning experience for christians. To help us resist the seductive power of the material world.

Could it be said that virtually every story in the bible has its own message, as David's story does.

Which stories and messages in the bible, resonate with you the most? Please share.

What about Solomon maam? Yes Jesus stated quite frankly: (Matthew 19:24) . . .it is easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.”

I believe that our souls existed before we were born and that, on some level, we were allowed to choose the conditions we would be born into. The most privileged positions, of princes and ministers, should have ideally been intended for the most spiritually noble, who would have the wisdom to resist the temptations to misuse their wealth and power but to instead use it for the good of their subjects (like King Solomon did). However, too often, these positions were taken up by greedy and evil souls who sought to exalt themselves and live easy lives, for which they will be punished by God during their judgement (to whom much is given, much will be expected). On the other hand, those who sought lives of hardship and poverty were those souls that had the wisdom to understand why God was putting them here, and accepted difficult lives for eternal rewards.

Luke 14
7When Jesus noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, He told them a parable: 8“When you are invited to a wedding banquet, do not sit in the place of honor, in case someone more distinguished than you has been invited. 9Then the host who invited both of you will come and tell you, ‘Give this man your seat.’ And in humiliation, you will have to take the last place.

10But when you are invited, go and sit in the last place, so that your host will come and tell you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’b Then you will be honored in front of everyone at the table with you. 11For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
