The newer translations are so bad... (how bad are they?), they are so bad they corrupt the very first verse of the Bible!

Genesis 1:1 (New International Version)
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"

Because the newer translations decided to put an 's' in front of Heaven, it completely throws the entire context of the Bible off.

One may not think a little letter change would be so bad, however because of that 'little' change, the reader will never understand that the Creation Story is all about God creating the Three Heavens as separate entities, one at a time, verse by verse.

Here is the correct translation...

Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth"

God creates ONE of the Three Heavens. And because the Earth needs all three Heavens in order to exist physically, we find that the Earth isn't even Three Dimensional yet!

Earth at this point exists on a single Two Dimensional Plane... literally without form and void...

Genesis 1:2
"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters"

Talk about a Flat Earth!

At the same time they produced a thing of beauty and power.

Even the enemies of the KJV had to acknowledge its outstanding qualities. And scholars of the English language agreed that the language itself was moulded by this Bible, which is regarding as a classic of English literature. So when Christians discard this Bible, they are showing how ignorant they are of the tremendous value of the Authorized Version. Even unbelieving film producers and writers quote from it when required.

One of the reasons I prefer to both read and teach from the KJV is the simplicity of it's translation. It's consistent. For the most part they picked a word to translate the original, and stuck with it, even if it makes the reading sound odd. But it's easier to know what the Hebrew and Greek is as there is more just translating, and less interpreting.

Now, for my detractors, nothing I say about different translations applies 100% in any direction. Just to be clear.

But simplicity in translation is important to me.

Well, that isn't really as bad as it seems. Isaiah says they are chambers in the NKJV and KJV, Rooms in the NIV, Rooms in the NASB, etc, talking about the very same thing that Yeshua referenced in John 14. The Greek and the Hebrew have equivalent meanings. So the NIV is not really off base with John 14.

Isaiah 26:19-21 (KJV) Thy dead men shall live,
