put this under praise because one verse that has been in my thoughts a lot lately is:
Proverbs 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
What I hear there is it is better to stand with Christ who is lowly in heart and humble ...then to stand with those that divide the spoil with the proud. Consider this with Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted (divided)his raiment, and cast lots.
Countless verses including Luke 23:35-38 that fully demonstrated this “with the proud”: And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. [36] And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, [37] And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. [38] And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
stripping him of his garments...but still consider again Proverbs 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Consider did He not fully demonstrate that no matter if they parted his garments, no matter if they stripped him of all honor and dignity and divided the spoil ...that He knew in himself “a better and more enduring substance” ...His standing indeed with the lowly in heart rather than with the proud and lifted up in heart. Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 10:31-34 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. [32] But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; [33] Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used. [34] For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
Proverbs 16:7-8 When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. [8] Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
consider 8: “better is a little with righteousness” Than “great revenues without right.” With Proverbs 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
