I still have alot of trouble with prayer. It doesn't last as long as I want it to. Also, I haven't prayed in tongues.
It depends on how you view prayer. It also depends on your relationship with God. It is a question of perspective. If you see God as a stern disciplinarian and you are afraid to draw near him, then your prayer life will reflect this and you will want to get down to business and get out. If you see him as a companion and friend this changes the way that you talk to him.If you look at the relationship of Adam and Eve with God in the Garden of Eden we see that God walked and talked with Adam and Eve, it says in Genesis 3: 8 in the cool of the day. Prayer should be like that because through Jesus we can enjoy the same kind of fellowship that Adam and Eve had before they sinned. This is God's original plan. We are made in his image so that he can have this kind of fellowship. If you look at prayer as a chance to walk and talk with God, it changes everything. Time spent with him becomes precious. The time spent becomes conversational. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you how God speaks to you. It is different with different people. Some people get visual images, others get nudges, some get passages of scripture or words pop into their consciousness seemingly from nowhere. There is a flow to prayer that comes out of this. You learn to go with the flow and then ask to have your worldview expanded by the Holy Spirit. Ask him for new insights and revelations. You could try reading a book by Dale Fife called the Hidden Kingdom, Journey Into the Heart of God. It isn't for everyone, but it is mind expanding. It doesn't start with Dale Fife, though. It starts with you and your relationship with God. The Holy Spirit is the key. He is the one who makes God real for us. He is with us now and forever.John 14: 26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.Blessings,Dunamite

this is how I currently look at prayer... for the first time last night, I literally sat there and just talked to God for almost an hour. It was one of the most greatest feelings I've ever had.I find that if I just open my heart to God, I can talk to Him about anything, and isn't that what he wants from us?... to talk to Him?

personal opinion.....The richer you are of physical things, the poorer you'd be of spiritual things, the shorter you'd pray to Him.----------------------------------------------------------------------------Lord Jesus Christ is God Himself in human flesh form, blessed is He.

Because your eyes would be fixed more on the physical things rather than on the spiritual things.

Praying is something I am not to great at,I find myself now usually super tired and not praying as long as I should instead just doing some 2 minute prayer,Don't get me wrong that is not everyday!!!Whenever I am at church,I pray all through worship songs!!!,That is usually whenever I pray the most, and it just feels so good knowing God is there and you can just feel his overwhelming presence!!!But I do need to start working on actually praying more at home,I just find myself super busy, but I have to start making time
