Wearing garments that are to be worn in different seasons would be rather silly as well as uncomfortable but why is it a statute?
Leviticus 19:19 Ye shall keep My statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
Deuteronomy 22:10-11 Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.
Looking at this spiritually...what is being taught?
Ezekiel 44:15-18 But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of My sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near to Me to minister unto Me, and they shall stand before Me to offer unto Me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord God: They shall enter into My sanctuary, and they shall come near to My table, to minister unto Me, and they shall keep My charge. And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within. They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with any thing that causeth sweat. And when they go forth into the utter court, even into the utter court to the people, they shall put off their garments wherein they ministered, and lay them in the holy chambers, and they shall put on other garments; and they shall not sanctify the people with their garments.
We see that linen garments are worn by the priests. This same principle applies here:
Revelation 19:8,14 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (14) And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Genesis 41:42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
Matthew 27:58-60 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
As the saints and the priests, who ARE figuratively the body of Jesus,...are wrapped in fine, clean, white linen...why then should they not also wear wool? Is wool a bad thing? No, for....
John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me:
His sheep, His followers...believers, are those that wear wool. We begin our walk wearing wool. If we are His saints, we will be perfected and able to wear linen. If we wear linen, as priests or saints...we are those "on the housetop."
Matthew 24:16-18 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Once there we cannot return to our house, to the teaching of those of our house, for we are taught by the Holy Spirit. We hear Him...not man. We wear linen, not the wool of sheep. Is this permanent? No, for if we attain the ability to wear linen...we can lose it very quickly. Once lost we are then naked, for we are without Him, without Christ.
Mark 14:50-52 And they all forsook Him, and fled. And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
