That was amazing - watching live over in the UK
How did they get that rocket to land on the ship - that was incredible to watch.
Well done USA xxxx
I haven watched much from NASA. I still remember Apollo 13 when everything went wrong and how we indirectly watched and waited for them to return.

Totally different from in the days of old and NASA rocket launches. Including the propulsion source that lifts the rocket off the pad. It's water! About as enviro-friendly as it gets. And the stages of the rocket land back on a drone ship so there is no environmental pollution or loss of equipment.

This rocket launch is the result of the efforts and funding by the TESLA car inventor Elon Musk. We have mini-markets here that have electric fill up stations for the TESLA cars. Free! It should be free considering how much those cars are.

The rocket takes about 19 hours to reach the International Space Station, so tomorrow it should be docking there. Keep watch, there may be new video updates of that as well.

I'm glad you liked the video. We got to watch history in the making. :)

P.S. I love the profile picture.

Yes, my son is a big fan of Elon Musk. I am not too keen on some of the things he wants to do, like putting micro chips in the brain ( scary stuff )
I hadn’t taken much notice of the launch when it was planned a few days ago, but my son was talking about it when I got home from work. I decided to check it out on you tube, and got hooked.
We should be able to see the space craft over our skies at 10:00 tonight ( 1hours time ) It won’t be very clear, just a moving light in the sky.
So , would you go up in space if you had the chance and money - they reckon they could have trips for the public within the next two years.
Personally I would rather keep my feet firmly on the ground, think this is for younger people !

Are the rumors true?

That, SpaceX/MalcomX, will put the first all black crew into space. To mark the imprisonment of George Floyd, which was unfortunately done without "due processes" of the law, and also no "bail" issued because the "due processes" of the law were not followed.

This has been the first usa rocket launch since, around "Rodney King" and the media attention that followed that.

We haven't had a real accident since the "Challenger Disaster", I bring that up because, NASA wasn't really involved in the design of the re-entry craft, that will be another big issue when that happens.

Before that time, SpaceX should smooth things over with the NAACP, there will be another African American President, each and every time, you involve yourselves in building for the space agencies, you need to get permission from the civil rights groups to do that.

The first manned rocket is about to take off, going through last minute checks now, from Florida today at 3:22p.m. This is the first manned space flight in years! So exciting.
It may be exciting but the timing could not have been worse. There are larger issues at stake -- in fact the very survival of America as America. The money spent on this space project should have been reallocated to deal with many critical issues which nave not been properly addressed.

Where did the monies come from?

NASA has a budget which comes out of the annual federal budget. Since 1998 it has ranged from 13.5 billion to 22.5 billion. But it is not a part of the defense budget.
Thank you for sharing that. Yes, I'm aware of NASA's budget. If you will, my question concerned this launch today. Where did the funding for the SpaceX launch come from? As you mentioned those could be put to better use.

Now the Americans don't have to hitch a ride with the Russians anymore in the Soyuz... LoL...:p

I was a major skeptic when NASA decided to drop the shuttle and give the job to private companies.
I was even more skeptical with Space X. My skepticism only started to turn when they started showing us how they land the rocket.
Those vertical landings are a game changer. That will make it much cheaper now.

Not sure exactly how Space X makes money but... Anyone?

I presume they will charge the earth to give the general public a chance to go to the space station, , and eventually other places in space . Elon Musk wants to make that happen within the next few years. So the aim is to make it a commercial enterprise that will expand.

Ok, just been talking with my son - he sees the whole space exploration thing as something positive. He asked my opinion- on one level I do not have much of a view , given that I am in my 60’s and can’t see it being part of my life anyway. However what should the Christian approach be to it all ?
I mean there are no clear guidelines or references to us seeking out planets ect,
Is it merely a smoke screen for those within the world who only see ‘ hope ‘ in fresh starts somewhere else - I mean the book of revelation doesn’t really convey people being ‘ elsewhere ‘ in the galaxy !
Anyone else have any views or thoughts on the subject !?

I'm about 70 miles West of the launch pad at Cape Canaveral and you could barely see the flaming object ascend into the upper atmosphere....great launch and mission thus far.....it is a new day for space launches to the Space Station...though I wish the country was in better times and the funding did not come from its citizens, to a large extent...timing is all off....APAK
