This is true. But what should be most alarming is that government budgets invariably show that there will be deficit spending -- spending outrageously more than tax revenues allow. Western nations are essentially bankrupt. So are states and cities in America.
The reason for this disastrous state of affairs is that spending decisions have been left in the hands of politicians. And those are the last people to be making spending decisions, since they specialize in WASTING tax dollars. If every government had an independent Treasury and Treasurer (with a group of expert money managers to assist), whose mandate was to consistently BLOCK deficit spending, things would be quite different.
The launching of Space X at this particular time was a HUGE MISTAKE. Indeed foolishness. At the very least, that money should have been held in reserve to help business owners who lost their businesses through the lock downs, and are now losing their businesses through riots and looting.

@Rita A lot of space flights actually involve carefully prepared scientific experiments which are not glamorous or sensationalist; and the idea is that the many scientific experiments will be beneficial.

True. However, that doesn't address the SpaceX Dragon launch itself. Implying such isn't really fair to the time and monies committed to arrive at the SpaceX Dragon launch, does it? Why not just be happy it was a success, the astronauts are alive and safe on the Space Station, and look forward to their return to earth, safe and sound.

Seems like after the end of Apollo program there was a sort of break in space exploration but then after the Shuttle there have been various commercial space programs and now the Chinese are putting astronauts into space, among them women.

Our bodies grow babies, and nourish them to grow healthy in this life. We birth the future of God given humanity from our bodies.
And to think,with that God given power,none the less at one time we were thought unfit, unworthy, unable, to inherit property, live on our own without a man, or to vote for our national and personal future.
