1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. - Galatians 5:1-4.
What happens with believers in grace that still try to hold to the law or self effort? They fail, when you attempt to keep the law you will not be successful. As hyped up as some can get in believing they can do all this that needs to be done and surly please God and be successful it turns into failure. We have witnessed this time and again because the media is so very kind to point out all the short coming of a Christian. It happens in every walk of life but it gets more notoriety for those in the limelight so to speak.
That is not to say those in grace with understanding cannot have their trouble, but to try to keep the flesh in check by using law will end badly everytime.
How do we handle flesh? Do we handle it by just denying it and making it come into subjection (self effort), well yea I think so at times. But you cannot have victory over the flesh by denying it by using some law. It is overcome by knowledge, you use understanding (the gospel) to bring the flesh into subjection. How does that work? It works based on love, your love for Christ and the whole of the Godhead. How would love work in that instance? By keeping yourself because you know (knowledge) for you to live is Christ. You fall in love with him like you do any other person and more so. Your understanding of Christ as life expression is your keeper. You walk different, you talk different, you don't go to places you once went to, and don't do things you once did. Why is that, I thought we were in grace and can do anything?
Grace will be the the hardest and best thing to happen to you. The hardest because you have no excuses anymore for sin, such as; "oh I'm just human, and humans make mistakes."
That may be true but you cannot have that to fall back on now not if you are living Grace. To live grace you live grace. You don't live like the devil, you are not a rip off, you are not a con, a shyster, swindler, you are not an alcoholic or drug addict, or an abuser. You are Christ in this earth for others (Christ living and expressing his life as your creation) to humanity. Your creation has another life in it now and that life is the only life to be expressed.
That is grace in a nut shell "Christ alive in you as you." The two working in conjunction to workout a new creature by lifestyle and living what is written. Happy trails.
