Lust is eros (in Greek) which is the counterfeit of the other three major Greek definitions of love:
  • eros
  • storge
  • phileo
  • agapeo
All leading from the most self-centered (eros) to the most selfless (agape).

Eros being the counterfeit often made me question if it was even love at all. But then I realized
it is self-love and the Greeks set out to define precisely what moves people to strong emotional
ties and biases. So eros is indeed a form of love (but I would call it evil love / devil love).

Most people under the influence of self-love mistakenly project it on others as true love (which it's not).
It's lust of the flesh or lust of the person (I want that person for my very own). Love (agape) is wanting the best for
the one you agape love even if it means they are better off with someone else. And while sad for self, you'd be more happy for
them that they are in an agape love with someone else.

1co 13:4Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
1co 13:5does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
1co 13:6does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
1co 13:7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
