Hello everyone, yesterday I was reading the Word and I came across this familiar story of Jesus riding through the town on a donkey while the people greeted him with "hossanas."I have 2 questions, but first...Matthew 21:5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.In my KJV study bible, it points out that ONLY Matthew in 21:7 mentioned both, the ass and the colt.We can see in Mark 11:2, that Jesus rode the colt. And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring himAlso in Luke 19:30 We see the reference of ONLY a colt.Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.Questions:1. Why would Matthew record an ass and a colt? Why two?2. Whats the purpose of the colt that had never been rode before?

Great question Redits the way its written that causes the confusion a better way might be He is riding the Ass and its young colt a foal at that. Matthew 21:5 " "Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass." "This colt is one that had never been ridden before as you said . This is of course time of the First Advent, This verse is Old Testament prophecy from the book of Zechariah.Zechariah 9:9; "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: He is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. His First Advent, or coming. He is just, or fair, and having salvation means He is about to pay the price for that salvation. This is prophecy that had to be fulfilled, and it was.The ass, or donkey is not the animal of prestige in Jerusalem, or anywhere, but is an animal of lowly people. Of course his second coming he is riding a White Horse a noble steed of Kingsword Polos:1) a colt, the young of a horse2) a young creaturea) of a young ass
