This I have been stuck in before and I am interested in what you guys would have done. You have just been set free from the addictions of self abuse. It made your life miserable and without it you are finally with God. You want to stay as far away from it as possible as you are still STRONGLY attracted to it.until one day you find a girl who you know very well who has gotten into Self Abuse .Now you know that if you go and help her you would just get back into the world of Self Abuse and be no better off than before. But if you don't help her you leave her to waste away.What is your choice Leave her alone for your own soul.( for if your right hand causes you to sin cut it offor try to help even though you'll end up getting back in it. ( for I tell you this, there is no greater love then to give up your life for another)

I would do both By that I mean I would make sure you were solid in Christ for the best way we can help someone is to set the example of how Christ has brought you out of your sin. So trust in him and that is vital or you wont be of any help anyway. I would then talk to her in a setting where I wasnt temped and if I felt myself slipping I would turn to God for strenghth for a day or two or untill I got my heart straight again.You can not help anyone if you are not strong enough in your faith to resistthen all you are saying is look Christ wasnt strong enough to save me in that case your sins is worse because you not only sin against yourself but you have possably told her by your actions Christ can not save her eitherhope I explained that right.

Leave her alone...be a strong, loving example for her to follow...always there for her waiting with open arms..she knows where to find you.

I don't think either of those answers applies. Why does it have to be a choice of not trying to help, or trying to help and end up getting back into it yourself? If by the grace of God you've gotten the victory over a sin or problem, is God not capable of giving you the grace to resist getting back into it while you help another out of it? I don't know about the God you serve, but mine has an endless supply of grace. God does not give us the victory over sin just to sit back and say, "I can't help you because you're unclean and might contaminate me."

I'd leave her alone. But pray for her.If I know I'm strong enough to withstand the sin, then I'll help her.

Jon Marc has a good point.I think you have stated that you don't feel strong enough to resist the past temptations that once had a hold on you. I understand what you are saying. I had addictions myself and when you are in the process of transforming..you have to get away from the element you are addicted to in order to be strengthened in Christ.Once you are strong enough..then you can walk among it and pull those out that are afflicted with the same problems..but that person has got to want to change...only then can you be a great support because you have been there. You can encourage that person in Christ and that person will trust you.You can use your past to help bring others to GOD, when you are ready.Love to you.

Get others to help you so your not alone. There is no excuse not to try and help her. Your friends will give you strength.

I cannot possibly understand what a person with an addiction that I've never had is going through. Nor could I help them as well as someone who has gone through it and been victorious over it. I know how to speak to someone who has lost a loved one since I have. I know how to speak to a man who has an adulterous wife, for I've been there. I know how to talk with a man who is going through a divorce, because I've been through two. However, I have no idea what to say to someone trying to get away from drugs, tobacco, sex addiction, gambling addiction, and many other addictions, because I have never had those problems and have no idea what they're going through. Nor can I understand why they can't just quit if they are a Christian since all Christians have the power of the Holy Spirit to fall upon instead of our own strength. I heard of a deacon once who blew his brains out because of an addiction to porn. The guilt ate him up, and apparently his faith was too weak to overcome it even though we are told that there is NO temptation that is common to man that we cannot escape.

Let me put the world of addictions this way. There are two creations in each of us the old sinful creation and the new christ like creation. Even though you are a new creation your old creation is still there.An addictive sin is not a normal sin, it makes you rely on the sin, and slowly causes your old creation to win over your new one, because by relying on the sin you are not relying by God.It clearly becomes another God. When you try to break it the sin pulls you and it takes a combination of Prayer and willpower, and sometimes even Gods willpower, to get you to get away from it because you are still relying on it. for this reason you want to stay as far away from the sin as you know that it has the ability to easily make you fall away from god.Try to imagine it this way, You haev a favorite food don't you. Lets say its ice cream and you are trying not to eat ice cream for a month. and your church commitee decides to meet at dairy Queen. see the delema
