'For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.'
For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.'

(1Co 1:18-19)

'For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received,
how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day
according to the scriptures:'

and was raised again for our justification.'

Oh there is good reason i clicked on your post my friend .
We see in the letter to the romans as well as in the other places
What the POWER of GOD is my friend . ITS JESUS THE CHRIST , ITS HIS GOSPEL .
Now i suppose you might be wondering why did i click on your post .
Because many now are doing exactly what paul warned that many would be doing
near the end .
A love religoin has been created and it often will talk about doing good works to the poor
and etc
IT has a form of godliness , BUT FRIEND IT SURE DO DENY THE POWER THEREOF .
IT DENIES JESUS . I have seen this interreligious dialgoue
IT DENIES to all them false religoins THE DIRE NEED TO REPENT AND BELIEVE ON JESUS .
IT rather says we all serving the same GOD .
IT HAS DENIED THE POWER OF GOD .
HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS , BUT DENYING THE POWER THEREOF . THERE IT IS .
INTERFAITH IS OF ANTI CHRIST , this false love IS of satan
but an overwhemling number even within christendom NOW RUN TO its love , to its solution they all believe
can and will usher PEACE N SAFETY unto the world .
And what did paul say
FOR WHEN THEY SHALL SAY PEACE N SAFETY .................................SUDDEN DESTRUCTION . oh the hour is far later
than many dare to even realize .

[Act 26:20-22 KJV] 20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and [then] to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. 21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill [me]. 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

The Jews were alleging that Paul spoke against Moses and the law and the prophets
Paul was saying he did nothing but prove by the law and the prophets the resurrection of Christ..........he did not refute the law

That doesnt mean he didnt say other things....Acts doesnt record all that was said as we can read below

[Act 2:40 KJV] 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

[Act 16:31-32 KJV] 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. It doesn.t say what all they spake
Hello @Doug,

The words Paul spoke before Agrippa were emphatic, 'saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come'. If the Word of God is to be believed then it must be shown to be trustworthy, and so I will stand by what is written.

Thank you

show me scriptures before Paul where they state how God could be just in forgiving Israel's sins....the blood of bulls and goats couldn't take away sins................[Heb 10:4 KJV] 4 For [it is] not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
'But this shall be the covenant that I will make
with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD,
I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts;
and will be their God, and they shall be My People.
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour,
and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD:
for they shall all know Me,
from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD:
for I will forgive their iniquity,
and I will remember their sin no more.'

[Luk 10:24 KJV] 24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen [them]; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard [them].

All that was prophesized of Jesus's suffering and death and resurrection was revealed and fulfilled during Christ's earthly ministry

Paul fully showed how Christ fulfilled the prophets
'Receiving the end of your faith,
even the salvation of your souls.
Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently,
who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Searching what, or what manner of time
the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,
when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ,
and the glory that should follow.

Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves,
but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you
by them that have preached the gospel unto you
with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven;
which things the angels desire to look into.'

(1Pet. 1:9-12)

Hello @Doug,

The Old Testament prophets received from the Spirit of Christ knowledge concerning the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow, but were not given the ability to understand what it all meant, for it was shrouded in mystery until the day came for it's unveiling.

Thank you,
In Christ Jesus

Paul was saying he preached Christ two ways
#1 he preached Christ according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest,
#2 he preached Christ by the scriptures of the prophets

The mystery was not found in the scriptures.

Paul is NOT saying he preached Christ according to the revelation of the mystery by the scriptures of the prophets.

God did not reveal the mystery that was hidden in the scriptures, he revealed the mystery not made known anywhere before revealed thru Paul.
Hello @Doug,

We are told time and again in the book of the Acts and elsewhere, how Paul would spend hours and days, with the Scriptures open before him, persuading his listeners that Jesus is the Christ.

It was also the Old Testament scriptures that the men of Berea searched, who were commended for their habit of receiving what they heard with all readiness of mind, but then searching the scriptures daily to prove that what they heard was in fact so.

Thank you

10) Paul's gospel revealed a new creature, in which there is neither Jew or Gentile. Galatians 3:28 Galatians 6:15

'For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ
have put on Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek,
there is neither bond nor free,
there is neither male nor female:
for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if ye be Christ's,
then are ye Abraham's seed,
and heirs according to the promise.'

(Gal 3:26-29)

'For in Christ Jesus
neither circumcision availeth any thing,
nor uncircumcision,
but a new creature.'

(Gal 6:15)

Hello @Doug,

When the words, 'new creature' are used in (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 6:5), it is in reference to believers individually not corporately. in Christ: who become new creatures in Him, and are made one in Him: this is not possible in the flesh, but only in the spirit. These believers, in the Acts period have been grafted into Israel's Olive Tree, and partake of it's root and fatness, so it can be said, (as above), that they are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise, for they are receiving of the blessings of Abraham. Israel is still first in priority, and Paul still goes to the Synagogue in every town he visits and speaks to the Jew first.

The revelation of God, or,'The Mystery', (Eph. 3), concerning the church which is the body of Christ, of which He is the Head, had not yet been divinely revealed to Paul.

Thank you,

11) Paul's gospel revealed the body of Christ. Ephesians 2:16 1 Corinthians 12:27
'Having abolished in His flesh the enmity,
even the law of commandments contained in ordinances;
for to make in Himself of twain one new man,
so making peace;'

(Eph 2:15)

Hello @Doug.

Your verse quoted above from Eph. 2, is part of The Mystery revealed to Paul, while in prison: the reference to 1 Corinthians does not refer to it, because at the time of the writing of that epistle, this truth was 'hid in God' (Eph. 3:9). In 1Corinthians 2:12-27 the term 'the body of Christ' is used to describe the church at Corinth, and it's various body parts are used in regard to the distribution of the gifts of the spirit. Comparison with the Body of Christ of Ephesians will show that it does not compare.

The Gospel of God (Rom. 1:1-4) which Paul preached during the period covered by the book of The Acts of The Apostles, during which the epistles to the Galatians, Thessalonians, Corinthians, Romans and maybe Hebrews were written, is not that which was preached while in prison at Rome. The first mention of 'The Gospel of the grace of God' was made when Paul was on his way to Rome, spoken to the Ephesian elders who had come to see him. To whom he said:-

'But none of these things move me,
neither count I my life dear unto myself,
so that I might finish my course with joy,
and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus,
to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

And now, behold, I know that ye all,
among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God,
shall see my face no more.'

(Act 20:24-25)

This is the start of a further ministry, concerning which the risen Lord would once more appear unto Him. It would require imprisonment, for 'bonds and afflictions' await Him. The risen Christ had told him he would be appearing to him again:-

'But rise, and stand upon thy feet:
for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose,
to make thee a minister and a witness

1) both of these things which thou hast seen,
2) and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;'
(Act 26:16)

The epistles written from prison, containing the truth thus divinely revealed are ( Eph. Phil. Col. 2 Tim. Titus and Phile.). Though Paul received many visitors while in prison, and would have imparted this truth to all who came. So that the word would have been of wide distribution.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

12) Paul's gospel revealed our position in the heavenly places. Ephesians 2:6 2 Timothy 4:18
13) Paul's gospel also preached Christ from the scriptures of the law and prophets. Romans 16:26
14) Paul was given the dispensation of Grace. Ephesians 3:2
15) Paul's was given a dispensation of the gospel. 1 Corinthians 9:17

Hello @Doug,

12) The Divinely revealed Mystery which Paul administered from prison, via his epistles written from there (Eph. Phil. Col. 2Tim. Titus & Phile.), reveal the truth concerning The Church which is The Body of Christ, of which Christ is the Head, and yes, as you say, it reveals the place where the blessings that company are to enjoy in resurrection life are to be enjoyed, 'in heavenly places' in Christ Jesus ( Ephesians 1:3; 2:6 & 3:10).

13) already dealt with.

14 & 15) Yes, Paul was given another dispensation, 'The dispensation of the grace of God', as he tells the Ephesians in 3:2, and the Colossians in 1:25. 'to fulfil the word of God'. this is the second dispensation that he is commissioned to fulfil, the other being during the period covered by the book of Acts, which covers approx. 40 years. In 1 Cor. 9:17 he is given 'a dispensation of the gospel'.
Another dispensation is referred to, in Eph. 1:10, called 'the dispensation of the fulness of times' in which all things will be gathered together in Christ, both in Heaven and in Earth.

Praise God!

Thank you

We need this to be "saved".

"The Preaching of the Cross"... and "Faith comes by Hearing" (The Gospel)... and our "Faith is counted by God, as Christ's Righteousness".
What about the Cross that should be preached ? What did it accomplish and for who ?

Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
Paul is one of my favorites because you can see the transformation in him regrading Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

I do think Paul understood the message of Christ and walked in it. I said all that to make clear I’m not trying to diss Paul. But you brought up something that is confusing to me. I don’t want to make too much of it. Why did Paul say men would be judged by “my gospel” in light of :
John 7:16-19 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. [17] If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. [18] He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory: but he that seeks his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. [19] Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keep the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

I don’t see that Paul sought his own glory for Paul said: Philippians 3:8-9 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ [9] and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith-

And also, as you pointed out:
Galatians 1:10-12 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. [11] But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. [12] For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Paul said the gospel he preached was "my gospel".

The gospel Paul preached was revealed to him by Christ. Galatians 1:12
1 Peter 4:6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

[Act 24:24-25 KJV] 24 And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. 25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

Paul reasoned of righteousness......what did he say?
My point is we don;t know all he said so we cant definitively say what is recorded is all he said

[Act 16:31-32 KJV] 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

Same thing here ......what was the word of the Lord spoken? Not recorded

Besides this, we know from internal evidence, that epistles were written before the prison epistles and contained mystery revelation.
Here below are some of the epistles written before Acts 28 and prison.

[1Corithians 2:7 KJV] 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
[1Corinthians 15:51 KJV] 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

[Romans 11:25 KJV] 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
[Romans 16:25 KJV] 25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

#2 he preached Christ by the scriptures of the prophets

The Bereans searched the scriptures to verify what Paul preached from them.

What was not in scriptures of the OT was the mystery and Paul preached Christ according to the mystery as well as from scriptures

Yes 1 Cor is written to the church and Paul calls it the body of Christ. You cant say the body of Christ doesnt mean the body of Christ.....what happened to "standing on the word"
