This comes straight from my blog. Thought you might enjoy itThen I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. ( rev 21:1) It was late in spring 2006. I was in my eighth grade year and in the school I was in we take a trip to this small camp in the middle of nowhere aptly called eagle village. In the second day of this retreat we did the overused and completley boring lets go in the middle of the woods and pray for an hour.except it was anything but boring, I was sitting there, under a tree looking at an ant and praying., I took a small break from the prayer, raised my hand, and was about to obliterate the poor ant when a voice suddenly said "respect my creation" I looked around, there was nobody around me. It is to my belief that I just heard Gods voice. I sat there is amazement for the next five minutes. ( funnily enough I accidently squashed the ant while I was in this state.)For the next 6 months I started looking at nature completley different, Let me say this, nature stands for so much more than we give it credit for. .What do you see when you look at a tree, a plant, a mountain, a blade of grass, a snowflake. Before the experience above I saw a tree as a log of wood a mountain as a large stone, a blade of grass as something I needed to cut, a snowflake as frozen water. But in reality an entire history can be seen in nature. Our history. In the begining God made this world and step by step he made nature. and after every step he stepped back , admired his work, and said that it was "good"Now when God says that something is good, he's not like us. For example when my family tried to install a T.V a couple years ago, the wires were all over the place the entertainment was crooked, and the T.V fell off the entertainment center and was lying face down on the ground. We stepped back, much like God and said " good enough"When God says something is good, unlike us, he doesn't mean adequate, he means perfect. God made nature perfect. What does this mean. It means that the tree in your backyard, the river in your town, the grass you see in the ground, was supposed to be Gods paradise for us. And if you look close enough you can still sense hints of that paradise forevor lost. This is because Man fell, Eve ate the apple, Gods paradise was ruined, Death was introduced into it. and man was hoplessly away from God. This was our winter, a winter we are still experiencing. God to get us back sent hisson, and even though few recieved him, those few came back To God. For the few who recieved him, we know spring is coming. Notice the verse I put on top. God is making a new earth for us, a new paradise, another shot at the garden of Eden. and this time with Jesus's sacrafice, we can't doom ourselves out of it. Therefore the nature around us is a reminder of the paradise we are soon going to be in. It is a reminder of true happiness, a reminder of Jesus saying " welcome home." Nature is a reminder of heaven. Therefore today and from now on, don't look at trees as just a log of wood, or Mountains as a large rock, or grass as something to cut, but as a preview of the happiness to come.
