A Jewish caller cites a passage in which he notices a glaring issue : Jesus seemingly teaches His return to judge and repay each man according to deeds was near... yet it was 2,000 years ago.

Matthew 16
21From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord!e This shall never happen to you.” 23But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrancef to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
24Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For whoever would save his lifeg will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? 27For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

Mark 8
31And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
34And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35For whoever would save his lifed will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? 37For what can a man give in return for his soul? 38For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”
Mark 9
1And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.”

Dr. Brown's answer : "He says, 'There be some here that will not taste of death before they see the Kingdom of God coming in power.'--well, yeah, they did taste of the Kingdom of God when they went up on the mountain a week later."

So, Jesus says they won't "taste" of death and Dr. Brown mixes this up and concludes "You see? they 'tasted' of God's Kingdom!"--the problem is that, as the Jewish caller observes, the context of the conversation is the return of Christ when He judges and repays doers of good with eternal life (which is the very end--Romans 2:6-16, etc). This didn't happen in their lifetimes.

He does this often. I've called in. I don't even bother anymore because he's either dishonest (he's just a man--if he doesn't like a view, I've seen he will use anything to try to disprove it) or it's not really a good forum for a discussion because of technical difficulties or time constraints.

At any rate, what are your thoughts on the issue raised by the Jewish caller?
