The story goes that there was a candidate who went into his ordination interview with a hostile board of Elders, and he was getting absolutely grilled. The board questioned his fitness for the pastorate, his theology, his character, his integrity, his commitment to Christ, and even his very salvation. Finally, the chairman stands up and points his finger right at the candidate and thunders out, "Are you willing to be damned for the glory of God?"
The frazzled man held his composure and replied, "That I would be willing to be damned for the glory of God is not something I can say. However, if God in His infinite wisdom and perfect justice were to damn YOU for His glory, I should not object."
The board confirmed the candidate.
