Matt 19:16 . . And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master

According to my interlinear, a Greek word for "good" is not in that verse.
What you see there is called an editorial insertion; in other words the KJV's
translators arbitrarily penciled it in.

Matt 19:17 . . And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good?

No other versions of the Bible that I consulted translate Jesus' question like
that.

NOTE: Whenever using the KJV, it should always be compared with modern
translations; and also with the Greek to make sure that what you're reading
and/or quoting is reliable.

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

So, if we denounce what Jesus said here, we can miss hell?
If you would bother yourself to read the rest of the Bible you would know that Jesus was sinless. Did you teach your students for 40 years that Jesus was a sinner?
Hebrews 4:14-15 (NKJV)
14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Truther is not gonna be happy on Judgment Day when He meets Jesus face to face after saying Jesus wasn't good!
2 Corinthians 5:10 (NKJV)
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,

Poor Truther!

Modern translators hate that verse.

They also hate the last half of Mark 16.

I wonder why???

I am saying Jesus was sinless.

Where did you here different?

I am saying the sinless lamb of God was "coached" by his God(inner Holy Ghost) to get him to the cross without sinning.

One close call he had was this...

42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

...his will was not lined up with his God's perfect will.

18 And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.

So then all of the unbelievers we have ever known or even have ever been have never been good? I understand that men have their own definitions of "good", but certainly at times even unbelievers have been good in their ways as God sees good. Perhaps it is that little glimmer of good in every child born of woman that allows him to be attracted to the Light. is there perhaps a bit of good [a bit of God] in each of us before we meet Jesus?

"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." John 1:9

"No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. " John 6:44

How does the Father accomplish this drawing?

He said "why callest me good", not "why not callest me good".

You read the Bible oddly.

Lets challenge your assumption and see who is consistent with Gods word regarding Jesus !

Scripture declares the following:

1)There is NONE righteous no not ONE
Is Jesus righteous ? yes or no

2)All have sinned
Did Jesus sin ? yes or no

3)there is no one who understands
Did Jesus understand ? yes or no

4)there is no one who seeks God.
Did Jesus seek God ? yes or no

5)There is None who does good
Did Jesus do good ? yes or no

6) There is None good but God
Is Jesus good ? yes or no

Lets see how consistent you are with your answers !

hope this helps !!!

It looks like Jesus said he did not consider himself as "good", in the verse.

It looks like he was saying God was someone else, in the verse?

What are you reading into it?

Nope, he asked a question, and in the same breath gave the answer, "why ..... callest thy me good, for there is one that is good",
did JESUS say he was NOT Good?

I see it a certain way...Jesus said someone else is God and only God is good.

Maybe someone can make it say something else?

Anyone that can make it say that Jesus was saying that he is the good God, please do so.

Thanks...this is trippy.

I answered them all with Jesus' answer...

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

Which is sufficient, correct?

Should this verse even be in the Bible?....

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

It ruins our presupposition, so I say delete it.

first thanks for the reply, it's not to our opinions, it's the word of God that prevails.

Apparently not.

He, in the flesh, said God is a Spirit in John 4:24.

This means God is not flesh.
