On April 2, 2009, Christian Post, an online news organization, carried the news of an Episcopal clergywoman who was deposed on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, by the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island.
Her offence? She claimed to be both Christian and Muslim.
An ordained minister in The Episcopal Church for over two decades, Ann Holmes Redding believed it was possible to be a Christian and a Muslim at the same time. Her attitude agrees with the doctrine of Inter-Faith apostles and One-World Religion proponents. They all believe that all roads lead to heaven.
The Bible makes it clear that salvation comes only through the Lord Jesus Christ. The Word of God does not leave us in doubt that there is another possible way to heaven.
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 10:9
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Anybody who calls himself a Christian, a follower of Christ who has been washed in the blood of the Lamb, and still believe that a person can get to heaven through one of the world religions is laboring under demonic delusion. The fact is, no religion - not even the Christian religion – can save. It is not something, a practice, a system or a religion that can cause a person to be born again and get to heaven.
Romans 3
20. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
28. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Religious activities and moral works are ‘deeds of the law.’ No one can be justified and saved by God by doing the ‘deeds of the law.’
Ann Holmes Redding and so-called Christians like her are free to join any other religion that appeals to them. But they should not kid themselves that they are doing what God wants and are on their way to heaven.
Jesus is the only way to heaven. It is only through Him that salvation can be secured. Eternal life is available only through Him. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:4. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name John 1:12. To provide salvation for us, He suffered and died. On the third day, He rose again from the dead so we could be justified before God.
1Timothy 1:15
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Gal 1:4
Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father
Rom. 4:25
Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
No religion or religious organization suffered, died and rose from the dead for us. No prophet of a religion made a once-and-for-all sacrifice for sin so we could be delivered from sin and Satan. That is why they are powerless to save and justify us. Only Jesus can save.
Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Have you been to Calvary to ask Jesus for forgiveness of your sins and be washed clean in His precious blood? Have you received the precious gift of eternal life, which no religion can give to man? Have you been born again by the Spirit of God as you confess Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior? Are you following Jesus with all your heart? Remember, Jesus is the only One who can take you to heaven to enjoy eternal glory, peace and joy (John 14:1-3).
