It's a strange world when pastors and priests are told they cannot mention politics in their sermons without losing their tax exempt status (yet they run on donations), but criminals (some leaders in the Black Lives Matter movement) can talk about "frying pigs in a blanket" and encourage others to kill cops!!!!!!!!!

this no politics in Church thing needs to stop. I believe it was Pres Lyndon Johnson who came up with this lovely law

for one thing, i do not know God merely through the Bible... or I should say through YOUR interpretation thereof or any other HUMAN interpretation thereof. There is a divine Church Christ founded & i trust that Church (even though its also human, of course..unfortunately).

Jesus promised that that Church would never fail (mt 1 6:18), that even Satan who is usually (without divine intervention) more powerful than any human, will NOT prevail against the Church.. If people listen to the Church, they will automatically know what to do vis a vis "politics" (a word not everyone seems to want to define precisely, or at all)

obvioulsy if Jesus established a Church (He did), there would be (is no) NO difference between the "word of the Church" and the Word in the Bible... and of course Cahtolics know they are one and the same w/ no contradiction

Are you addressing me? I said God talked politics.... Meaning the OT. Jesus addressed politics when asked about taxes (render unto Caesar.. ) and Jesus paid taxes.Told Peter to go fishing and get the coin....

Paul and maybe Peter addressed politics too. The said obey magistrates. Why? So they eould leave us alone.

John the Revelator really prophesied on politics in the book of revelation!

But in the OT....Didn't Daniel have somewhat of a govt position? If not... What about Joseph in Egypt? Heck... He was in charge of agriculture so much that the world was coming to him (so to speak).

What of the book of Esther? Clearly political based.

It is a fault of mine that I am not too educated on the prophets like Isaiah and Jeremaiah... But i do remember them interacting with politicians.

Solomon and the book of proverbs. Is there no political advice from that source?

Let me give my conclusion before giving my number one bit of scripture as to why its ok for preachers to talk about politics:

In the NT, Jesus and the Apostles did talk less (i will even say sparcely) about politics. Why? They were focusing on a new and un- carnal kingdom.

We are not of this world! Yet we are living in it and it is God's creation. We are witnesses. God will ask us how bad is it? We will say how bad it is.

I have my affections on things above, but it doesn't mean I won't cry out about things beneath. Likewise for our religious leaders.

So... I said God himself talked politics... Where? Heve a look at 1 Sam8:11.... This is Gods view on politics.

Jesus saying to render unto Cesar proves my point. The Jews were expecting Jesus to be political and talk about the politics going on in the day. Jesus simply said, give to Cesar what's his because I'm not here to talk politics.

And Paul mentioning politics only enough to say obey magistrates is weak evidence.

John mentioning politics in prophecy is not taking a political stance it is predicting something. Not the same thing.

and were Daniel and Joseph preachers as well as politicians? if not then that is hardly relevant either.

if you obey Mt 25:31 that says to care for His brethren who are needy, you will want the society you live in to help the needy, not to the extent the loony liberals say we should... but whatever

some politicians are greedy but that doesn't mean politics is about greed and greed only involves politicians

so.. yeh, this is what happens when individuals interpret the Bible privately, something the Bible itself speaks against (1 or 2 Peter) "No scirpture is [up for] private interpretation. " It is the (public) Church that interprets

Yes but when Jesus got angry he said, "my fathers house shall be a house of prayer." he didn't say, "my fathers house shall be a house of prayer and politics."
