These are the last two churches described in Revelation.
Most people assume that one happens after the other.
The OT shows us that before the first fall of Jerusalem there was a revival under Josiah and a falling away soon after his death.
So, you had those that took part in the last and greatest passover, and those that returned to idol worship in the same period of time.
Jesus talks about wheat and tares, these exist together only to be separated in the end time.
The last two churches will exist in the final days before the end.

Well, all 7 churches will exist in the final days. Not brick and mortar but people who are like the ones described in Rev. In chp 11 we are told about part of the two witnesses being two candlesticks and candlesticks represent churches. These are most likely symbolisms of Philadelphia and Smyrna.

If one unawares stumbles into men's theories of Dispensationalism, one of their false ideas is a thing they call "Church Ages". They try to assign each one of Christ's 7 Messages to those Churches to be an historical age with the last one being to the church of Laodiceans representing the end.

In His 7 Messages Jesus also gave pointers about the end, which suggests those Messages were not just only for the historical Churches, but also as blueprints for ALL Churches, even all the way to the end of this world.

Five of those Churches Lord Jesus rebuked. Only TWO of those Churches He had no rebuke for, Smyrna and Philadelphia. So if one is looking for which Messages might be to His very elect, those 2 would be it. And I believe those two Messages are about the Rev.11 "two candlesticks" like ewq1938 was hinting at. I believe there will be 2 literal witnesses to Testify in Jerusalem for the tribulation, and also the "two candlesticks" representing the 2 Churches in ALL nations, also being delivered up to give a Testimony for Christ during the trib.

They would then need to be spiritual Churches, as the 7 Churches actually existed when the Book of Revelation was given.

Not "spiritual Churches", but the Messages are 'spiritually' applied to ALL Christian Churches all the way to the end.

That is my point, because those 7 Churches in Revelation existed in John the Apostle's day.
