Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

I do believe that Psalm 122:6 was given to true Israelites. But should not Christians be praying for this also? Not only that nations that love them will be blessed and prosper, but I wonder if every Christian in the world got on their knees, at the same time, and prayed for the peace of Jerusalem-a continual daily prayer...would this usher in the "end" faster?

I think they forfeited the promises since Paul says “For every one of God’s promises are “Yes” in him [Jesus]; therefore also through him the “Amen” is spoken, to the glory we give to God.” (2 Corinthians 1:20) (NET)

There are two themes presented in this prophetic Psalm: (1) praying for the peace of Jerusalem and (2) Jerusalem as it will exist in its redeemed and restored condition during the Millennium and beyond.

4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD.

The best way for Christians to pray for the peace of Jerusalem is to pray for the Jews to turn to Christ at this time. The true peace of Jerusalem will come about only AFTER the second coming of Christ, but there will be no peace for unbelieving Jews or Gentiles.

John warned about the Nicolaitan Gnostics 1 John 4:1-3, Revelation 2:6; not the Jews of Romans 11.

Do you know why the Jews exist today? Because they don't think Jesus is the Messiah = John says they are antichrists because of this.

They are still partially blinded UNTIL the fullness of the Gentiles comes in. The last seven years before the second coming are for the Jews. All Gentiles that are going to be saved will have already come into the Church, and the gospel reverts back to saving national Israel.

I will always believe that the Jewish nation are God's chosen people. I know Jew or Gentile must accept Jesus as The Christ to be saved but, I will always pray for them and be grateful that they were the people who ushered Christ in, and they were chosen for that very purpose.

It also shows that, although there are Christians from a Jewish background in the church, Israel and the church are distinct in Scripture.

They rejected Christ and God removed them from Israel. They also forfeited the promises. Paul says:“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20) (KJV 1900)

Why do today's Jews exist? Because of their hatred and rejection of Christ. Biblical Israel accepted him throughout the first century and we are grafted into them.

If what you are saying is that the Church is "spiritual" Israel, where is that justified in Scripture? Israel is called Jehovah's wife. The Church is called the Bride of Christ so, I certainly see a distinction.

We could also say that black is white, up is down, hot is cold, and turn everything on its head. But a diligent study of Scripture leads to clarity, not confusion.

If you truly want to understand what God has laid out in the Bible, you must start with the Abrahamic Covenant, and all its reiterations throughout Scripture. So you've got your homework cut out for you.

Correct. All redeemed Jews and Gentiles within the Body of Christ (until the Rapture) constitute the Church. Following the second coming of Christ, God will resume His direct dealings with the Jews and a multitude will be saved after (and/or during) the Tribulation.

There is a problem with your verse. Jacob's name was changed to "Israel"; they are one and the same.

I believe this is where he is called a coat of many colors or something simular

There is a problem with your verse. Jacob's name was changed to "Israel"; they are one and the same.

True. But there's no problem. Jacob and Israel are used interchangeably in Scripture (to designate the nation of Israel) and in fact that is a direct modified quotation from Isaiah 59:20: And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.

Since the Holy Spirit chooses the words of Scripture, we simply accept that as a given.
