lk 24: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. In His name, that is, in His Person..remission of sin and repentance are connected to His Saving Work of the cross, and they are revealed to them that He died for.. peter says it well acts 5: Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. Notice, His resurrection ensures that repentance and forgiveness of sin be given to Israel [Gods chosen people]..not israel of the flesh, but the Israel of God.. Now, the remission of sins in lk 24 and the forgiveness of sins in acts 5 are the same.. The word remission and forgiveness are the same greek word: aphesis which means: release from bondage or imprisonment2) forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty So it is clear, peter being true to the commission delivered Him of His Lord in lk 24, preaches to whom it is for, repentance and forgiveness of sins, to Gods Israel, that is, the children of promise.. For it is to this specific people, that forgiveness and repentance belongs. So preaching repentance scripturally, its not to everyone in the world indiscrimanetly, but to Gods Israel..why is that ?..Because He is their prince and saviour.. Paul says, that God has raised up a Saviour unto Israel acts 13: Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus: Not ethnic Israel is paul speaking of, but Israel as the children of promise.. for remember paul says in rom 9: Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: The all Israel for whom christ was raised up to be a prince and a saviour was the former israel in the above text.. Now, why preach repentance and remission of sins to Israel ? Because Jesus is their Saviour, He has already saved them from their sins as predicted in matt 1: And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. His people merely means His Israel, the children of promise.. Now these by the call of the gospel, are converted or their new life is made evident by their repentance..repentance is commanded of them because Jesus christ has saved them..and not as the anti christ preachers teach, that its a condition to get saved.. repentance is the fruit of christ saving death benefiting the Israel of God in that He by it, turns them [Israel/his people] from their sins.. acts 3: Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. The phrase turning away here in acts 3 is the greek :apostrephō: to turn back, return, bring back And this is what the death of christ does for the sheep, it returns them back to God..it brings them back from their apostacy from Him in adam.. Notice what peter writes in his epistle regarding the fruit of christ death to the elect of God..1 pet 3: For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: Its when the saving merits of christ is active upon the elect, and brings them back to God, then it is they are able to return [convert].. This truth is again Illustrated in the OT here: lam 5: Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old. And God does that [ turn thou us unto thee] how ? By the death of His Son..and the end result, and we shall be turned..that is converted unto thee.. another scripture: jer 31: have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God. Jeremiah 7:Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise. Now compare to Isa 53: Isaiah 53:5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. or it could very well read, and with his stripes, we are saved... So to preach repentance scripturally and spiritually intelligently, is to understand that repentance is for those who have salvation through christ already, who have forgiveness or remission of sins through christ already..thats why its in His name [person] it should be preached.. God through the Gospel being preached, makes manifest those who are saved by the cross work of christ already.. and that is the Israel of God, the children of promise, the election of grace, the sheep for whom he laid down his life, the church, his body..but never, ever is this glorious truth of repentance be preached indiscrimanetly and haphazardly and to include the children of the devil.. for christ did not die for the children of the devil..but only His people..matt 1 21..

isa 44 :21Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.22I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee. There are a few facts concerning them that the Gospel calls to repentance#1. They must belong to a special chosen people, Israel or the elect 21Remember these, O Jacob and Israelacts 5:31Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. #2. They must be a new creation :I have formed thee:The hebrew word here for formed is:yatsar and has the connotations of:of creation, to be formed, be created also:to be predetermined, be pre-ordainedGod doesn't call none that are not a new creation unto spiritual activities..#3. They must have had their sins forgiven:I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins:God doesn't call His chosen people to repentance in order to meet a condition to have their sins forgiven, but because God has already forgiven them of all their transgressions..#4. They must have already been redeemed:return unto me;[Why?] for I have redeemed theeThe antichrist followers teach that one must first come to God in repentance in order to get redeemed !

But thats not scriptural, thats works and conditionalism raising up their evil heads..But redemption and forgiveness are given freely to Gods elect by the riches of His grace per eph 1:7In whom we [The chosen of eph 1:4] have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;it is to these, that the call of :"return unto me" goes out to.And this is what Jesus Christ death accomplished, to return the elect back to God..1 pet 2:24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. His stripes alone effects the return or repentance of those called by the Gospel..A recap..Those called to repentance :#1. Are a specific elect people Israel#2. They are a New Creation#3. They have had their sins forgiven.#4. They have been redeemed
