Pro 22:16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

we all have seen the wealthy take from the poor or poorer for themselves and their confederates, but that does put them in the poor house. so what is meant by "shall surely come to want"?

(Proverbs 22:16) . . .The one defrauding the poor to increase his wealth And the one giving gifts to the rich Will end up in poverty.
Proverbs 22 is contrasting advice based on wisdom and ignorance sir. It is fairly easy to understand, showing the wiickedness of the wealthy extorting the poor, who will profit now, but unrighteously. And the ignorance of the poor in allowing others to take advantage.

An example might be a beggar on a street corner, I know one that had over 500,000 dollars when he died, he made some happy for sure, but although he became richer while refusing to work, well meaning people gave him money thinking he was in need. True most of them did not come to poverty over it, but it can happen. I personally know of one sister that gave away all her husbands savings who worked at a factory to some Bible students who lived in what she called the "hood". Imagine the stress that put on her marriage, especially since her husband is not a Christian.

want and poverty are two different things, one can be rich or wealthy and still be in want. one can be poor and not be in want.

and you know the rich remain rich in this case, so you have to be incorrect that riches bring poverty. they wouldn't do it if it brought poverty. you seem to be seeing what you want to believe it says, rather than seeing what it says which is a form of ignorance.

Just explaining the verse you posted sir. You are correct in fact I would say that most who are rich are in want, and many who are poor are satisfied. There are many scriptures on the topic in fact.
