Is there a difference between a heretic and false prophet?? To me, they’re one and the same.
By definition a false prophet makes false or sinister predictions. A heretic just has false teachings. They're quite different. Confusing the terms is in fact heresy.

in that case, anyone trying to predict the future would be a false prophet since noone can predict the future.

You are missing some parts of this conversation, that im having with JD.

Let me bring you up to speed.

She began to post Mormon Doctrine on a non-Theology Part of the Forum., that is for TESTIMONY, only., days ago.
So, i asked her why she is doing that, on THAT part of the Forum.
She then PM'd me, and asked if i had "questions".
I had a few.
She told me....that to be baptized into the Mormon Church, you have to agree that the Book Of Mormon is "Scripture", or you cannot become a Mormon Member.
Today i was talking about that, and she decided to deny it, and then she decided to try to change the subject from that conversation, into "how to be a Christian.
So, i asked her 2 times, in 2 more posts, to respond to the TOPIC i posted, and she didnt care to do it.

So, that is not my "bias", that is her dishonesty.

I have had convos with Jane along this same line and we parted w/o all the vitriol you spit.
I'm aware of the activity in these threads.
You pick out and throw it around every where about ppl losing their salvation bc you dislike the thought...........
How bout I just ignore anything you have to say since its all against and not for discussion!

Well by your standard the Apostle Paul is a false prophet:

Paul quoted Habakkuk 1:5 to warn those who would not believe the gospel:

Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.” (Acts 13:41)

And what’s the “the flow and subject of the Bible Chapter”?

For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.” (Habakkuk 1:6)

What do the Chaldeans have to do with those Paul was preaching to???

Thanks @Davy ! Now I have to accept that Paul is a false prophet!

I’ll pass on your advice!

What an idiotic attempt at false claims!

Apostle Paul was warning the unbelieving Jews about their rejecting Jesus and The Gospel. And Paul used the same warning God gave through His prophet Habakkuk about calamities coming.

THUS PAUL WAS QUOTING HABAKKUK FOR THE SAME REASONS FOR REBELLION THAT THE UNBELIEVING JEWS WERE GOING TO BE SUBJECT TO. SO WHAT HAPPENED IN 70 A.D. JERUSALEM? DUH......

Yes, unless I had a time machine, I could not truly predict the future. Only God can. He is the true prophet. All others may receive the "gift" of prophecy.

Are the Chaldeans coming to execute judgment on unbelievers??

@Davy ?

Does not Paul fit your mold of a false prophet in your estimation?

But Paul is not a false prophet.

You teach error in identifying a false prophet.

all apostolic gifts are gone however. The Bible is complete, nothing else to be added.
Not true. But your a cessationist I see. So everyone is false to you I suppose :( Too bad, there's a whole spirit of gifts you're missing out on. God is not a dead God, he speaks to his children.

@Lifelong_sinner how do you interpret this:

John 10:27-28

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

LOL, a tactic of degrading the competition. I see insecurity in that approach.

You see insecurity in me pointing out that you nearly quoted me word for word?

And you think that you are in a competition?...That this forum, is your competition?
No wonder your mind and your character seems so small and weak and your theology so self righteous.
And i noticed you didnt deny using my Post, and basically quoting it as your own.
If you go back now and do some editing, you can try to change that impression.
Kinda too late.

Jesus described those who had been called by the Father, and are saved. And He goes on to describe OSAS.

and yes, as a calvinist, i am a cessationist. There are no more apostolic gifts, no tongues, no future telling prophecy. The Bible is complete and we have everything we need at this point. But let me go even further to describe those who believe in tongues and prophecy…. You wont like this, but because of doubt, those who believe that the apostolic gifts still exist, do so because they need proof, actual proof that they are saved. Faith alone is a struggle for some. :D:eek:

Thanks for being honest. I've witnessed otherwise myself. And I like to hear from God because I love and miss him.

One who believes that might as well scrap a good portion of the New Testament writings then, because Lord Jesus and His Apostles gave warnings against His enemies a lot.
You are missing the context...
Ten Signs You Have A Religious Spirit - Mattera Ministries International
Quote: excerpt from the above link
In this article I am using the term “religion” to refer to man-made effort that utilizes works to please God. It is very easy to mistake being religious for having a relationship with God. All religions in the world are based on religion which is a man-made attempt to reach God. However, Christianity is supposed to involve having a genuine relationship with God (2 Corinthians 13:14). Unfortunately, it is very easy to unwittingly replace this precious relationship with a religious spirit (meaning a lifestyle or attitude), which is the default position of sinful human nature. The purpose of this article is to help people become self-aware, not to condemn or judge them. Hence, if you use this to judge others you yourself are guilty of one of the following signs.

Why do people keep calling the gifts "apostolic" gifts when in truth the Bible says the Holy Spirit manifests His gifts in the body of Christ.
I have not read one scripture that mentions the apostolic gifts.
I have read several scriptures that mentions the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

WCF chpt 1, part 1 states; “which maketh the Holy Scripture to be most necessary; those former ways of God's revealing his will unto his people being now ceased.”

God’s revealing will = miracles, prophecy, tongues, healing. Ceased, as in stopped, no more.

That’s actually inaccurate, for the reasons we’ve gone over and you’ve ignored my explanations.
Jane Doe, you always manage to be disingenuous about Mormon beliefs.

Here's what "Mormon Rules" says:
"They use both the Old and the New Testaments, and they also use several books of scripture unique to Mormonism. The Book of Mormon is best-known, but they also use the Doctrine and Covenants, which is a book of modern revelation, and the Pearl of Great Price, a small volume of various scriptures and records. Which of these do the Mormons consider the most important? Mormons believe that all four, combined with wisdom from current prophets, must be combined in order to completely understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. Reading just one book gives you only a partial understanding of God’s doctrines."
Mormon Rules: Which Scriptures Matter Most?

In other words you cannot be a Mormon unless you equate at least those other three Mormon books to the Holy Bible. So please tell us if you personally do what Mormons are expected to do? If not, you are a fake Mormon.

I have not read one scripture that mentions the apostolic gifts.
"Signs, wonders, and miracles" were indeed apostolic gifts. And Paul said so: I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing. Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds [miracles]. (2 Cor 12:11,12) This is confirmed in Hebrews 2.
