When someone voices support for Hamas, they are antisemitic.
And if they're showing support for Christian Palestinians, that's just as bad when those Christians are targets of Hamas and Muslim Palestinians.
Semitic has to do with language and even Hamas speaks the semitic language, so it seems weird now to say something is anti semitic on the basis of ones location.
I don't know how it is somehow considered bad to express ones support for
Christian Palestinians.
I think semitic is treated as a race thing and not a language thing between certain countries in the which do have Christians in them as well as Jews, as well as political arm of Hamas
And so I will add that I don't really get this whole "support a race" thing.
Hamas, as a political and military organization based in Palestine, operates primarily in the Arabic-speaking region. Arabic is a Semitic language, so the language used by Hamas is indeed a Semitic language.
Even AI shows the following
- Arab States: Nations where Arabic, a Semitic language, is the primary language, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and others.
- Israel: The official language is Hebrew, a Semitic language.
- Ethiopia: The official language is Amharic, a Semitic language.
- Eritrea: The official language is Tigrinya, a Semitic language.
- Malta: The national language is Maltese, a Semitic language derived from Arabic.
- Sudan: Arabic is the official language, a Semitic language.
- Somalia: Arabic is used in religious and formal contexts, and Somali is a Cushitic language, but Arabic is Semitic.
- Yemen: Arabic is the official language, a Semitic language.
- Oman: Arabic is the official language, a Semitic language.
- United Arab Emirates: Arabic is the official language, a Semitic language.
Someone from another country might side with Americans on the basis of an antifa movement (a bought and paid for arm of the left wing) because its in America, and then could claim you must be anti American because you do not side with antifa (who might be citizens of America) but work against it millitantly while being supported by one of the political arms (which drive it).
So it seem kind of lame to be pro or against a people in a specific location without being specific as to who exactly we are talking about. Far better to not say, "I am for Americans" (because they actually do support the political millitant arm of antifa within it) when that would mean they are in fact against Americans who do not believe their bs. It would be better to say, I do not accept what antifa is doing in America and perhaps I support (in my prayers even) the people there who are suffering under this evil faction.
Anti Semitic Misuse
The term "anti-Semitic" is often used incorrectly, primarily due to a misunderstanding of its historical and linguistic origins. The word "Semitic" originally referred to a family of languages spoken in the Middle East, including Hebrew and Arabic, and does not denote a unified race or peoplehood.
However, the term "anti-Semitism" was coined only recently in the 19th century by German journalist Wilhelm Marr to describe racial hatred against Jews only, not against all Semitic peoples.
