That moose looks calm at the moment. Maybe cause he is eating some pumpkin.
You definitely want to get away from Moose, they can trample you and you can tell that is a big powerful heavy animal, like a horse.

Yeah the guy taking the pictures is pretty calm. I don't think I would get that close or open the door.

I was at Red Lodge Montana for a Electric Utility seminar. I was teaching a class on Tap Changer controls. This resort is set up as one lodge and two, two story buildings with hotel rooms. I had gone to get an ironing board and iron. On the way back to the room after turning them in, I got a feeling and stopped in my tracks ......Glanced to my right ....Here comes Mom and calf ....walking along a trail that cut through the resort ...I looked up as they passed ....could have reached out and run my hand along the side of both Mom and calf .....Looked across the trail. A salesman from a company in Tampa was standing there ......I smiled and said "Now there's something you never see in Tampa ....do we?"

He asked "You were very close, why didn't you touch her?" "On my best day, I don't run that fast. I've hunted up here. I know what they are capable of doing."

In other words .....if he's on your porch eating pumpkins ......ask how many do you want? Then disappear ....

Jimmt Carter was coming to Yellowstone. I was sent from Cheyenne to pickup a communications satellite dish to be installed on a nearby mountain. Coming out of Montana, I entered the park from the north. In the northern part of the park ....I noticed a group of tourists parked, out of their cars and watching one woman going closer and closer to a Bull Moose munching on soemthing knee deep in a pond ....I got out and sat on the hood of my car to watch. I cautioned her to not take another step ...."The hair on his back just stood up, he's warning you not to take another step." Too late, she took the step......People were leaping into cars, it didn't matter if it was their car or not ....He had targeted the woman and her camera.....That animal smashed into the car she went into ....then launched again ....Proving his point, he turned and went bak to the exact same place he was before he charged.....The side of that car was heavily damaged .....The owner said "No problem, the park will take care of the damage." I countered with ....."You should read before leaving the entrance .....this one is soley on you."
