Python and Penetration Testing

Is anyone familiar with Python for ethical hacking/ pen testing? Just looking to find out if there are any other infosec professionals out here.

Ours is outsourced, but this is an area I really want to learn as I break into infused. As far as sharing resources, I am afraid I don't have much of anything to offer at the moment!

I have a pdf copy of Violent Python if you'd like it. It teaches the basic functions of programming from a penetration testing perspective. For example, the very first program after "hello, world." is a vulnerability scanner ultimately using methods and the import socket library. For just a guided walkthrough of python, I'd recommend codeacademy.com you can use your facebook account if you choose, and you can track your progress as you go through the modules. By the way, what's better than free?
