From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 4:17 RSV

Can we say we've repented if we continue to sin?

Bob are you at this time without sins in your life? If you are without sins of the flesh you make God a liar. Your doctrine is designed to discourage and cause people to question themselves. You have not understood sin.

I think we as human beings continue to sin even if we don’t intend to, we are of the flesh and of this Earth and not Devine like God the Father and his Son our Savior Jesus Christ, so to ask forgiveness and repent even if we unintentionally committed the same sin I’m sure God knows and will accept your repentance and forgive you, but to intentionally keep committing the same sin and knowing doing it, I don’t think that’s forgivable, because you are knowingly repeating the same sin over and over again.

Jesus did say we need to be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48).

Intentionally? All sin is willful, intentional, and usually premeditated.
No we can sin without thinking, are you following me around to start fights such as the thread that was deleted yesterday, when you started coming after me? I won’t fall for it go chastise someone else.

Perhaps none of us are yet, but I believe we need to be perfect before we enter heaven. Are the Lord's commandments so difficult we can't obey them?
You will be, brother, you will be. God promised...

Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. (1 John 3:2)

Of course, you might have to go through death and resurrection like Jesus first.

People, the Bible exhorts us to prepare ourselves for His return by practicing being like Him in avoiding sinful thought, word, and deed; and loving one another. This is an art we practice, not a goal we need to achieve in this lifetime.

It would be best to resist temptation at all times. If we fail, then we repent.

@Lambano Great verse there from First John!

Paul's great treatise on repentance is in Romans 2...

Thinking you can be 'perfect' in the sense you choose to understand it, and that we must 'achieve' that to get into Heaven means a 'works' salvation, which of course is against what God's Word teaches. We are to strive... to be perfect, even though we know we cannot because of our flesh.

Lord Jesus well knows this too, which is why He told us 'how' to pray here...

Luke 11:2-4
2 And He said unto them, "When ye pray, say, 'Our Father Which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.'"

KJV

Read the following scripture applying Christ.
Psalms 89:33

Also I will make him my firstborn,

higher than the kings of the earth.

My mercy will I keep for him for evermore,

and my covenant shall stand fast with him.

His seed also will I make to endure for ever,

and his throne as the days of heaven.

If his children forsake my law,

and walk not in my judgments;

If they break my statutes,

and keep not my commandments;

Then will I visit their transgression with the rod,

and their iniquity with stripes.

Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him,

nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.

My covenant will I not break,

nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

Once have I sworn by my holiness

Jesus said we need to be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect. Probably none of us can state it better than that.

Hello,

To you and all I must be blunt, and honest.

My life was filled with complete darkness and hatred for God and Christians. It came about of 26 years of age, when my mind was changed all I ever heard was Jesus was the one who cured, everything for all people.

That he was the answer.

My life from that person who hated God hated Christians, hates his family, desired to kill his mother, who would take your wife from you, who abused his girlfriends just for the use of sex, who lied and manipulated other people for his own gain.

Did not change right away it took time, years, but alas I’m still not perfect in my flesh and I make mistakes but if I am walking by the spirit and being led by the spirit having faith in God and Christ, I have no more worry.

If I do mess up it will be when I fail to love God and love other people. By the Holy Spirit Will I be let known when that has happened and to seek forgiveness from the person, and pray to God about the areas that are being effect so that I may be once again helped by the Almighty God.

This is the only testimony that is had in my life. I never really sought after Jesus when I was young. I did go in and out of churches but was never really helped, it took someone on the YouTube talking about Jesus in which they also talked a lot about the Wrath of God that led me on my journey to seek Jesus.

Thankful to now know my life has been changed drastically however I can’t prove it, my only crutch is that Jesus made that change. It wasn’t me though I did make the choice to seek for him. Being a willing participant for Jesus to come in, and God to come into my heart allowing them to work.

Reading Matthew, mark, luke and John in that order.

Show me a man today that has kept the perfect law of God and I’ll show you a man greatly deceived. Show me one person today that has love the love God with all their heart and I’ll show you one that is greatly deceived.
