This is how the government got Al Capone, the mobster, and put him into prison. His expenditures proved that he had a lot more income than he was choosing to report. The government simply computed the difference and charged with Income Tax Evasion. That was and still is against the law.

The way to report illegally received income could be as "other income" or as self-employment income. Lots of people fail to report income they have received "under the table" as cash payments instead on something reported on a W2 or a 1099 or "other income" or as self-employment income. If it is not reported and IRS is able prove the difference, it can and will be added to taxable income and charged including penalties and interest for not properly reporting it in a timely fashion. Illegal income is subject to taxation. The laws were put into place with such Evasions in mind.

Dennis is smart little kid though and may have anticipated that the bully does in fact carry a gun and he would kill him if given the chance...
