So: do we need government to pass laws to keep people from hurting themselves, or (with the help of the Holy Spirit) should we instead persuade people to turn to God (and treat their bodies as temples to the Lord)?

Our constitution is based on our natural rights—life, liberty, and equality. Are people free to conduct ourselves as they please, as long as they do not hurt anyone or anything, or are people not free to abuse themselves either?

I had to think before titling this thread. "Promoting Christianity" would have been something hard to swallow. So many, though, even in my own family, are taking too much of a relaxed stance with alcohol.

My grandfather was rumored as a saint. What most people don't know is of the Friday night he came home drunk. I don't know what was said, but I do know after granny got through with him he never tried that the second time!

I wouldn't exactly call him a "rock star". He did sing for a minor cover band called "Summer wine" though.
